I think I've solved the link UL problem by geting to the settings page in some other convoluted way which I can't remember now. I've cleared the 'browsing history' (all boxes ticked) and restarted the browser, no difference. Once logged in to WordPress I get a somewhat blank homepage [i.e. it won't load anything automatically] and the only tab that works is 'stats' ...

... hold the presses! I've just tried opening using Firefox - works fine! What's going on here!

I have recently started having problems with linking images. I'm not sure when it started, or perhaps it was always like that, but I simply didn't use this feature.

Anyway, after I upload whatever image I want to use and try to put an external website address in the field Link URL, after saving the link is automatically changed to that leading to the image file on the wordpress server. It happened many times, in different situations (posting single image, posting gallery) and in different posts.

Any ideas what the problem might be? Or perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Will be very grateful for some help.

I have to disagree with you time thief. I want to link them to content that is related to the image and headline on the home page slider. The featured slider post works in such a way that I cannot HAVE any other content in the post than what appears in the home page slider. At lantostechnologies.wordpress.com when you click on "read more" I want to take visitors to the relevant "markets" sub-page.

There's nothing sneaky about giving visitors the content that's most relevant to the link they click on. That's just Web Usability 101.

For what it's worth that cannot be done on the other free hosted WordPress.com blogs using free themes and I suspect it can't be done on your blog wither. Why? Because it's unethical to have a link that states read more and sneakily redirects to another page rather than to the reminder of the related page it is supposed to be linked to.

In the Linen theme, as with others that use the home page slider, you create a sticky post with a featured image and it becomes one of the panels for the slider. PROBLEM I'm having is setting the "Read More" link to the correct destination URL. I've tried several times to set the "Link URL" field when going through the steps to set up the featured image for the post but still the Read More click takes me to the sticky post.

Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
To clarify a bit: I want the "Read More" link to take visitors to a different page on my site and not to the sticky post.

P.S. This is the second attempt at posting in the premium themes forum. My apologies if it's still landing in the wrong place.

CSS3 animations and transitions are simply not something you can reliably use right now.

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there is a way to create slideshows using the custom CSS form (I have the upgrade, and my website is http://www.nyudri.org).

I'd like to have a slideshow where each image hyperlinks to different pages on my site (so it works like a preview section). The standard slideshow feature does not support this. There are ways to create slideshows using pure CSS, but I'm able to get them to work:

http://css-tricks.com/13627-infinite-all-css-scrolling-slideshow/

When you use a WordPress.com Gallery to insert photos, the only two options for linking are either the original image or the image attachment page. The present Gallery feature will not accept any other link regardless of what you try to put in the link section of the image in the Image Uploader or Media Library.

Optionally, you can include the external link in the photo's description, but you will have to write it as HTML
Your Link

Since you are talking about only three images, you could also use an HTML table instead.

You're right, it looks like some HTML is going to be needed. Have a look at the example below which uses floated divs instead of a table. It should be fairly easy to duplicate, the only problem being that you'll have to go through and manually copy in the URL to your image and the desired link destination too. Copy the inner div code and duplicate it as many times as you need inside the first container div, In the code below I've included it three times so you can see.

	...

@shoreacres, @halluke-if you look at the underlying code on the "cars" page, it seems that sylvan is using the Gallery feature. I could be mistaken, but that is what I see. If so, it doesn't matter what URL he/she enters in the URL box of the individual image, the Gallery will simply ignore it as the Gallery only allows two link choices for its thumbnails: the original image or an attachment page. That is why I suggested adding the link to the "different" page in the description on the attachment page.

Perhaps you can think of a more straightforward way of doing this using the Gallery. Otherwise, the only other alternative I know is to make a table using HTML in place of the Gallery.

Cheers!

hallluke - was just looking at his blog. He's using Greyzed and has a dropdown "Gallery" menu at the top - if pages are allowed in that theme it may be a matter of creating a separate page for each car and linking to that.

And you just asked my next question. Thanks ;-)
