This change may take a little while to be fully effective.

Looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet. Please go to your domain registrar's site (Centralnic) and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Other subdomains of this domain are registered to another user at WordPress.com so you can't use it for your site. Only that user can register other subdomains.

I do own this domain and have set the name servers to point to WP.

Also, I tried to add a Zone Record for the domain .us.com but it asked me to contact support.

Do I need a zone record for this address? If so, could you please add the Zone Record for me?

On WordPress.com, you can use a subdomain of a domain that you already own as your blog’s domain. For instance, if you already have a website up at mjtrim.com, and your WordPress.com blog is at mjtrim.wordpress.com, you can put your blog in a subdomain of that website, such as blog.mjtrim.com. This is called Domain Mapping. Your old WordPress.com address will still work, but we will automatically redirect traffic from your old address to your new one.
