Hope this works for you. At least for me it did the trick.

@justpi:

Now I see the problem. As you can see from melkro's posting above, Tripline embeds the whole flash part into it's own object, which is actually not needed. In the surrounding "<object>" code they are using the definition "<param name="flashVars" ...". Within the actual "<embed>" code section they are using "flashVars=...". I mixed that up a little bit.

As for "the instructions on http://wpbtips.wordpress.com", I happen to be the one who invented this workaround, wpbtips is my own blog, and the instructions given there are correct.

I am pretty very well aware of these things. ;-) I just followed the instructions on http://wpbtips.wordpress.com. However, the information given there don't seem to be correct anymore. Just have a look at the examples given there.

No it's not correct: it has more mistakes than your first atempt. I don't see why you're trying to change and rearrange things when you're not familiar with this kind of thing. You just copy the part I showed and change its beginning and its end the way I showed - no other changes. You just copy this:

<embed src="http://www.tripline.net/api/tripviewer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true" AllowScriptAccess="always" bgcolor="#111111" flashVars="tripId=0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0&tripDataUrl=http://www.tripline.net/api/v1/kml/0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0?version=.2&mapsApiKey=ABQIAAAAA9rk3PBVYmwBFaK8U6L2BBSGk6n9_7P4Hc_MSCrbXGvqZu06axRNzkfL-lfkb7tx0GF_c1LVYHgGQg&onSite=0">

then turn the initial

<embed

to

[gigya

and the final

>

to

]

That's all it takes. No other changes.

Dear justpi,

thanks for your reply. I converted the statement to:

[gigya src="http://www.tripline.net/api/tripviewer.swf tripId=0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0&tripDataUrl=http://www.tripline.net/api/v1/kml/0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0?version=.2&mapsApiKey=ABQIAAAAA9rk3PBVYmwBFaK8U6L2BBSGk6n9_7P4Hc_MSCrbXGvqZu06axRNzkfL-lfkb7tx0GF_c1LVYHgGQg&onSite=0" width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true" AllowScriptAccess="always" bgcolor="#111111"]

The tripline error message about missing parameters is gone now but unfortunately the embedded flash window stays black and doesn't show anything.

Is the conversion above correct? Any further ideas regarding this issue?

Hello,

I am working on the same issue. I found the following on the Tripline Website. They say, that embedding the tripline map in a wordpress.com Blog doesn't work and you have to use the thumbnail version instead, which is very inconvenient.

I tried to convert the embed code according to http://wpbtips.wordpress.com. The code looks like as follows:

[gigya src="http://www.tripline.net/api/tripviewer.swf" width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true" AllowScriptAccess="always" bgcolor="#111111" tripId="0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0" tripDataUrl="http://www.tripline.net/api/v1/kml/0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0 version=".2" mapsApiKey="ABQIAAAAA9rk3PBVYmwBFaK8U6L2BBSGk6n9_7P4Hc_MSCrbXGvqZu06axRNzkfL-lfkb7tx0GF_c1LVYHgGQg" onSite="0"]

The original code provided by tripline looks as follows:

<object width="512" height="288">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.tripline.net/api/tripviewer.swf" />
<param name="AllowScriptAccess" VALUE="always" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#111111" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
<param name="flashVars" value="tripId=0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0&tripDataUrl=http://www.tripline.net/api/v1/kml/0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0?version=.2&mapsApiKey=ABQIAAAAA9rk3PBVYmwBFaK8U6L2BBSGk6n9_7P4Hc_MSCrbXGvqZu06axRNzkfL-lfkb7tx0GF_c1LVYHgGQg&onSite=0" />
<embed src="http://www.tripline.net/api/tripviewer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true" AllowScriptAccess="always" bgcolor="#111111" flashVars="tripId=0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0&tripDataUrl=http://www.tripline.net/api/v1/kml/0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0?version=.2&mapsApiKey=ABQIAAAAA9rk3PBVYmwBFaK8U6L2BBSGk6n9_7P4Hc_MSCrbXGvqZu06axRNzkfL-lfkb7tx0GF_c1LVYHgGQg&onSite=0">
</embed>
</object>

However, this loads the flash object but this one itself complains about "Missing configuration parameters". So something might have gone wrong during the conversion process to the "gigya" markup.

I finally heard back on this from WordPress support. Apparently if maps.google.com is used instead of google.com/maps, that fixes things. I've tried it once, and it does! Maybe the documentation should reflect that. Well it's good to have something which works. Thanks, JustJennifer, for your help on this.

Yeah, thanks JustJennifer. I put in an official request to WordPress support, but 5 days later have not heard anything. I'm surprised that an official, documented function fo WordPress fails in this way. It's really needed for a number of sites I look after.

Thanks so much for your help.

That last one is coming up "googleapps" not "googlemaps" and perhaps this forum post will be relevant for you http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/embedding-google-map-appears-blank?replies=7#post-799318

Otherwise I'm stumped. I can't reproduce this problem using a PC and Chrome, whether I'm logged in or not to my Google account. I'll tag this for Staff attention, but I hope that perhaps another user might have an idea. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks @timethief for the geotagging link, pretty cool.
Too bad their is no user feature to use that info and make the map as everything is there for it now, but just not usable...

Thanks raincoaster, I will avoid the screenshoting option and will continue my research hoping Automattic will soon do something as, quoting them:

We’ll soon be launching a bunch of human readable stuff like theme integration, widgets, shortcodes, maps, etc.

But if you're asking can you have ONE map displaying constantly updating pins for each post, no. You can make it on Google maps, but you can't embed the updating pins on Wp.com. What you can do is screenshot it and post the JPG.

Thanks Timethief.
I saw that link which basically is about inserting a static map, I will use it as a fallback solution but this would make a lot of redundant editing...

So this means there is no geolocation of blogposts possible in wordpress.com I guess.

Cheers,
