Thank you for the info. All of my submenus are categories. The only static page I have is the home page. Therefore, my few submenu items that aren't working are also just categories of posts. I have no trouble creating or organizing them and I have read through the support docs. But I still can't find the answer I'm looking for: I can't click on some sub-menus to view those categorized posts, as if no link exists and it's just floating text.

You can create a custom menu and include exactly what you want in it while excluding what you don't want from it.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with new posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu. Then add your sub-pages as well.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-creating-sub-menus

Here’s a link to a custom menu walk-through > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/11/wordpress-com-custom-menu-walk-through/

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here. > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

Hi,

I have a slight problem with my menu. It's not exactly a 'problem' per se, but there is a way I prefer my menu to be. My menu has about four or five pages in it and two or three of them have sub pages and sub-sub pages. The problem is this. To access these sub pages and beyond, all it takes is moving the mouse over the parent pages and it expands automatically to the subpages for the mouse to select which one. I do not want it to do that. I want it the usual way. Where one has to click on these pages to find links to the subpages and beyond.

How do I set the menu to act like that?

Thank you

PS, pardon my site right now. It seems unprofessional because I'm really just testing wordpress out before making a real blog. Thank you.

Custom menu Troubleshooting – My pages are in the wrong order
Check the sub-pages themselves to see if you have established a Parent page and child page “hierarchical structure” in the page attributes module. Remove if required. Also remove any “order” numbers you have assigned that may conflict with the order you are creating by dropping and dragging. Or simply change them so they are the same order as you establish in the menu. Establish consistency – problem solved.

Hi thesacredpath,

Thanks so much for your suggestion. I added it to my #Menu rule, which looked like the following:

#menu {
position: absolute;
width: 960px;
top: 225px;
text-align: center;
z-index: 1000;

Unfortunately I wasn't successful, but I appreciate your help.

I don't have IE, so I can't see the issue, but try adding this to the #menu rule you have in your custom CSS. Hopefully my guess is correct.

z-index: 1000;

Hi guys,

I only now just realised that my navigation bar is missing for anyone viewing in IE. I've made some CSS changes to my site to make it look more the way I want, but truth is I know nothing about CSS. I've basically found what I needed around the net and copied and pasted it into the editor. I believe I may have done something wrong along the way.

My site: http://beautifulkayekie.com

Any help you have would be wonderful.
I've noticed my page views are not as consistent, and this is probably why.
