The reason it goes to the second line when you click on, say, dōTERRA Essential Oils, is that the "current" page item is differentiated in the menu by bold styling. The bold styling on longer menu labels makes enough difference in the length of the text to force the end menu item to the next line. Add this to the end of your custom CSS. It widens the available area for menu tabs by a little bit (5.6% left and right margins instead of 7.6%).

I've got everything looking the way I want, except I have one small issue. The navigation menu is exactly how I want it on the home page, but if I go to any other page it shifts and the last menu item moves underneath. Any suggestions?

It looks like you found the paragraph spacing.

Not sure what you mean on the menu hover box. Can you explain further please?

Gotcha! Worked like a charm:)

How can I reduce the space in between paragraphs?

Also, when I hover over the nav items the hover box has a lot of space on the left and not the right. Is there a way to make it directly in the center?

It seems like no matter what code I try nothing changes at all on my blog. Is it possible that there is something else that is over-riding any changes made in CSS that I am missing?

First, make sure to adjust the "1.2125em" number to something smaller as instructed.

Second, make sure you don't place the new CSS inside a CSS comment. In CSS, comments appear inside marks like "/*" and "*/" for example:

/* This is a CSS comment. */

You can remove the default CSS comment from your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor and just add the new CSS from above (except adjusted!) to make the change work.

I placed the code you suggested into the CSS and nothing changed. I'm not sure why no matter what I place into the CSS nothing changes at all?

First off, CSS is theme specific, so the code you may have been finding might not have been for the theme you are using.

Start by adding this and adjusting the right padding. If you take it down to zero, then delete the "em" and just have the 0.

#access a {
padding-right:1.2125em;
}

Hi!
I have the custom design upgrade and using the Twenty Eleven theme. I would like to decrease the spacing between the nav items as well decrease the spacing between nav items and margins so I can fit more menu items on a single line. I've tried plugging in a couple different recommendations into the CSS but it doesn't seem to change anything at all. I'm not sure why the CSS isn't working?

Instead of modifying the menu itself, you want to focus specifically on the menu links with this selector:

.main-navigation li a { [your code here] }

Try that out and see if it does what you want. I have also tagged this post to move it to the CSS support forum.

Hi there

I'm using the twenty twelve theme and would like to capitalize menu items. I have used the css code:
menu {
font-size: .8em;
color: navy;
text-transform: capitalize;
}
which was I found through the forums but it doesn't seem to be working. The color (colour) doesn't seem to change to navy either.

Hi.

I'm new and just trying to create a basic "about me" website.

I'm using Twenty Eleven and managed to erase the search bar on the menu bar. I wanted to do this. I did *not* however, want two lines for the menu bar items.

I submitted this ? before and was informed to create a child theme and add this to the function.php section of the child theme:

#branding .only-search + + #access div {
padding-right: 15px;
}

I tried that...and...it didn't work.

Then I found this closed post:

I like this idea because I just add the code to the css sheet...but...that didn't work either.

Problem occurs on Windows XP in Google Chrome and IE. I don't know if it makes a difference that my screen on this computer is fullscreen.

The problem didn't happen on my Windows 7, Google Chrome and IE. It's a widescreen laptop.

I think it's great that the custom background shows through the body of the posts/pages and the sidebar widgets, but maybe it would help if the menus didn't have a transparent background?

Update: I tried it on a widescreen monitor and it works. The issue seems to be limited to fullscreen.

I changed the background to a custom image on my website yesterday (that was the only change I made) and now I am having an issue with the menu items. Every time I try to click on a menu item which is over the header image, it disappears before I can even hover my mouse over it. This means that I can't click on any link that appears over the header image. It's as if I hovered over the header instead of the menu item and the menu automatically disappears. I never had this problem before and I don't understand why it's acting up now.

I am also using Twenty Eleven theme. I have upgraded to custom design. I want to change the menu to be black text on white background. I have been able to find and edit the background for the menu items but not the font colour. Can you tell me where I can change this in the css please. Thanks, D.

You can put the code for the Pinterest follow button in a text widget.

1. Go to this site, choose which one of the red Follow Me images you want, and copy the code for it. http://pinterest.com/about/goodies/

2. Then, go to your widgets > Appearance > Widgets and select a text widget.http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/

3. Paste the Pinterest follow button code into the text widget, "save" the widget, "close" the widget and place it where you want it to display in your sidebar.
