Hi there!

You would need to export and import your content from your self-hosted site to your new WordPress.com site.

Then, you can use the domain mapping upgrade to use your custom URL with your new WordPress.com site. Here's more information on this upgrade and how to set it up: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Ah, thank you - It's becoming clearer now.

(1) I have a .com. I do not want to change its URL.

(2) Hosted privately, my .com is built using WordPress.org.
I want to switch to run it from my WP.com Dashboard.

The procedure you showed me assumes that a new URL is part of the process.

Option : I can redirect.

Accounts will not be listed under your blogs, because they are not blogs but accounts.

We cannot help you without the URLs of each blog and the name of each account AND the info about which blogs each account has access to.

Also, please note that I have already tried to read several "merge" and "transfer" posts but they are either unfathomable (to me) or I can't find what the posts refer to in my dashboard.

I have also added this account (Account A) to Account B (fortlog.com/wp-admin) account as administrator, but Account B is not listed under My Blogs in Account A.

I want to be able to not sign into Account B again as suggested by some merge posters.

I use this account (glowdown) for my blog. I have updated to Premium for this account.

I want to transfer my fortlog.com (run by WP) to this account.
In this dashboard, I can't Dashboard>Manage Blogs via fortlog.com/wp-login.

What's my first step, please?

Combining blogs: I want to move my art blog posts into my personal blog and get rid of my art blog. Bot are written under the same author. Is this possible?

You export the content from the blog you want to abandon and import it into the blog you want to keep.

You then set the old blog you are not using to private at settings > reading.

I have two blogs, I want to make one. One is a personal blog and the other is my art blog, but I don't think they need to be separate. I have read some ways to move blogs, but none of them seem like what I am trying to do. Is this possible to transfer all the posts to the other blog?

At some point in the future, those might be possibilities. At the presnt time, however, both of those scenarios are currently not a good fit for Guided Transfer.

Guided Transfer is designed to move a site over to a single self-hosted WordPress instance with the goal being as close as possible to the way the site is currently at WordPress.com.

Can a Guided Transfer be used to merge a blog that exists on WordPress.com INTO a blog that already exists in a self-installed, WordPress site? That is, two existing blogs (one on WordPress.com and the other a self-installed blog) become one, self-installed blog via a Guided Transfer?

And, as a separate question, can a guided transfer be used to transfer a blog into a new blog that exists within WordPress MultiSite?

This one's not as simple as it sounds (or maybe it is, hoping you all can help me lol).

I recently claimed TheRedefined.Wordpress.com, and today I went to make it TheRedefined.com, but it didn't promote that one I already had.

Instead it gave me this one: http://theredefineddotcom1.wordpress.com/

That wasn't the one I wanted, and I'm wondering if there's a way I can change the root site (so to speak) FROM http://theredefineddotcom1.wordpress.com/ TO the original one I had (TheRedefined.Wordpress.com) without cancelling the purchase, especially since there's a nice disclaimer about the (dot)com possibly not being available after a cancelled purchase.

What's the best thing I can do to ensure this gets resolved?

Does your host have an exporter so you can make an XML export file of the content and then import it into your blog here?

If not then does that site have an RSS feed?

Thanks, again, @time thief. I don't have a WordPress.org site and don't know CSS or code (eyes glazing over right now ;), so that part of your response, I think, doesn't apply to my situation. The website I meant, http://www.mundolifework.com, was built by a designer, and I don't know how to update it, so I thought of just incorporating some of the material into my blog. I know there's a back end that he uploaded the files to, so I was talking about accessing some of those files (not the CSS design part, the body copy/text) and moving them into my destination WordPress.com blog. So I'm gathering that I couldn't do that, right?

Yes.

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs. To import from a WordPress.org install into a WordPress.com blog see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

Advice: upgrade the WordPress.org site to WordPress 3.5.1 and delete all spam before you create the XML export file.

2) Can widgets be transferred or do I have to redo them -- and can they be used on some but not all pages (meaning Pages or Post pages) of my blog? Hope that makes sense.

All text widget content must be copied and pasted into text widgets on the site you move the content too as it cannot be exported.

You can export the content out of one blog and import it into the other blog and then make the blog you don't want to use private.

Log into the old blog, go to Tools → Export, and download the XML (WXR) file to your computer.

In the new blog, go to Tools → Import → WordPress, and upload the file you downloaded in step 1. After you upload the file, you can choose the option to Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files.

Hi! I want to simplify and reorganize my blogging experience by combining two of my WP.com blogs. I plan to choose a new, more robust template and sort posts using custom menus/categories for http://janmundo.wordpress.com. I'll create new nav tabs and categories; then I want to move/incorporate some, but not all, of the posts (which contain photos), pages, and widgets from my other site, http://theheadachecoach.wordpress.com, to my Jan Mundo blog.

Is there a way you'd recommend doing this? I'm thinking for each item that it's a cut and paste process from the Visual Editor (not a coder). Is there a wholesale way to do this instead? Do I have to redo all the widgets? After I move the posts, would then I select the original publish dates to keep them in order?
