I am planning to migrate my WordPress.com blog over a self-hosted site.

Along with the content (posts, pages, media, comments, etc.), I would like to keep my email subscribers.

I also need to transfer the domain name (alessandradipietro.it) that is currently mapping my blog (godete.wordpress.com) to the new website.

Would it suffice to follow the instructions in http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/, or there is any particular advice I should take into account before moving?

Thanks,
Alessandra

I think the feed redirects as well, but email subscriptions do not.

If you have email subscriptions set up here then you will have to set up a new one at some place like feedburner. You can export your email subscribers from here to a CSV file, but there is no way to import them at feedburner - at least not that I have ever found. They would have to resubscribe at feedburner.

Yes, moving a blog will affect those subscribed to your mainelyjen.wordpress.com feed. If all you want is a domain name, why not just buy it and the mapping upgrade for $17 a year and stay here?

If you do actually move off WP.com, then all people subscribed to your WP.com feed will have to re-subscribe to your new one. If you don't move, the feed will still go to them as usual.

Also, there's this:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/offsite-redirect/ although I don't believe the redirect has any effect on the feed. You can ask staff directly via your dashboard Help button, or maybe one of the other volunteers knows.

I would like to migrate my account to a self hosted blog with wordpress (move mainelyjen.wordpress.com on to mainelyjen.com while still using wordpress).

Will this change effect those currently subscribed to my wordpress.com blog? How do I ensure that I don't lose them?

Additionally, I assume this change will mean that I will need to pay to redirect traffic to the new blog?

I am trying to move my blog from WordPress.com to Bluehost. I clicked on export to generate a file, went to my BH site and clicked on import. I get a message that says...

Sorry, there has been an error.

File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.

Which place is at fault? WP.com? WP.org or BH? Which one do I go to for help?

No, there is no way to re-open a deleted blog. Google will update eventually, but you can facilitate it reading your new blog by registering at Google Blogsearch.

I recently moved from WP.com to WP.org about a month ago. I did not have very much content on my .com blog, so what I did was just install the new blog, and manually entered the new content, I then deleted my old blog.

When I have been checking Goolge for my keyword search testing, I see that my old blog permalinks, tags, etc. are there, and when one clicks on them, WP.com tells them that the user has deleted this blog.

My question is, is there a way for me to re-open that blog, and just forward the domain traffic to my new location (if so, how do I do this)? Or is there a way to get Google to pick up my new blog location (it has the same content, keywords, etc. as my old blog), but for some reason, Google is showing my old blog.
