Sorry about the delay, we're going to run the import for you today. I just want to confirm with you that you're okay with us emptying your blog first, since you never replied above.

Before importing the file, we'd first need to fully empty your WordPress.com blog, so the importer doesn't try to reimport posts or comments for posts that already exist. Emptying out the site will erase all posts, pages, comments, images, other types of uploaded files, and other data, and it can't be undone.

Let us know and we'll go ahead.

I thought about trying that, but the export file is very large (407.7MB) and will exceed the upload limit. Is there any way around this?

Our developers recommend trying the export file that Blogger provides, since it usually works well. You can get the file by logging into Blogger, then going to Settings > Other > Export.

Before importing the file, we'd first need to fully empty your WordPress.com blog, so the importer doesn't try to reimport posts or comments for posts that already exist. Emptying out the site will erase all posts, pages, comments, images, other types of uploaded files, and other data, and it can't be undone.

Let us know if you'd like to try this route and whether we can empty your site.

I tried all four steps posted above, but my browser is still spinning when I try to import from Blogger. I'm using Firefox for Mac version 17.0.1 and received the following error message after a few minutes of waiting:

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

If you are, please do these four things:

1. Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

If you are not successful let us know which browser (and version of it) you’re using and post any error reports you get.

I am attempting to import posts from a Blogger website to WordPress.com. However, when I click on the Blogger link under Tools -> Import, all I get is a spinning wheel in my browser.

I have tried logging out and back in several times. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

(1) Are these missing images found in your Media Library ie. did you upload them from your computer onto WordPress.com servers? Or are they hosted on another site?

(2) Are you trying to edit posts or pages and/or upload images into a post on the WordPress.com home page? http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ Or are you working on the dashboard of your own blog?

Lost content

It appears that some of the images that have been recently uploaded to blog pages are disappearing, rather than remaining in the library, and some comments that I've made on different blog pages have disappeared, can you explain? I can't see a way of seeing historic material so I can use that as a way of recovering what has been lost.

I think it was just a delay but if you think that your blog has been hacked then:
Go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.
Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/
Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/
Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.
Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one
Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

They both showed up under the same post, but within seconds disappeared.

Yes i checked my trash, spam, etc. and searched everywhere within comments. This is the first time this has ever happened. It kinda scared me, wondering if i'd been hacked.

Can you locate the comments in your dashboard?
> Comments > Approved
> Comments > Pending
> Comments > Spam

I have been asked to help edit a wordpress based site. they want to allow comments to their posts. I have setup all the p[refefences to allow this, but not he live site there is no links, comment boxes or anyway to respond/comment on the post...how do i resolve this?

is it a code thing? do i need to access the raw php files? which page / piece of code am i to look at?

Oh man! I'm glad you fixed your database. Just a note, the limit I referred to is set on the server configuration and not in your WordPress database. If you're not sure how to modify that and you want to try, contact your web host for help. Otherwise, try exporting in smaller chunks instead.
