OMG guys, you saved my life. The revisions module--this is so fabulous. I knew something like this had to exist but I am so naive about the principles of blogware. I thought my briIliant draft was completely annihilated. I was able to find the post intact about 5 revisions down. (But now that I reread it, it doesn't look so brilliant anymore...)

I won't be drafting directly into the WordPress interface anymore. Thanks for letting me know about offline blog clients, timethief.

Advice: Another choice is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac). Then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don't have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

What's going on is a glitch with drafts; has been going on for months, WP has said or done nothing about it.
Edit the draft and check the Revisions module for the best saved version. If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the post editor screen, click Screen Options (top right) to activate it.
In the future avoid using drafts: when you start a new post, write a couple of words, set the visibility to private, publish the post, continue editing and updating, turn to public when finished.

I started a new post and typed in a draft that was about 500 words. I repeatedly saved the draft as I was writing. Then finished it up, added a screen shot to the bottom of it, and then clicked the preview button. When I did this, THE DRAFT DISAPPEARED. Gone. The part of the dashboard with my drafts shows only one version of this draft, and it is BLANK. Can someone please tell me what's going on, and how I can restore my draft!!!!?? I'm going to pull my hair out of you tell me it's lost forever.
