@bythefirelight

Thanks for putting the featured category back. The theme appears to be working correctly.

I see you are hiding the featured category section by the following in Custom CSS.

#category-highlight {
	display: none;
}

But this doesn't mean the posts in the featured category move to More Articles section, if you are trying to do so. So the lates six posts are not visible.

More Articles section displays posts that are not in the featured category section (the latest six posts from the chosen category) to prevent duplicated contents show up on the home page.

Hope it clarifies how the theme works.

Thanks for the report but it's a bit difficult to see what was going on your blog since you worked around by changing the featured category. Would you mind to put the featured category back so that I can see what is really going on?

I've tested the theme on my test blog but I didn't see anything weird at a glance, but if you can replicate the issue I might be able to find something is wrong in the theme.

I have done some searches on Google and still don't see exactly what I'm experiencing. However, now that I've done more digging I can give a much longer explanation of what is going on.

The issues breaks down in two to issues:

1. On the home page, which is using the news template, the featured category was set to Books. All my posts are in that category. However, what I was seeing in the More Articles section was that only articles that were in Books and had been sticky at one time or were currently sticky were showing up there. I switched the featured category to unclassified and everything I have posed showed up there. It is a bit of a hack, but I could live with that.

2. The second issue was on the Blog page. On that page I was having the same issue with only previously sticky items showing up there. Once I changed the featured category to unclassified, all my posts showed up. I also had an issue, though, in that all the current sticky posts sort to the top. Since I don't make every post sticky, it can look like I'm not updating content very often, even though my new posts are on the blog page, just a ways down.

It seems when I first started using the theme it did not sort like this. And I'm fairly certain it didn't have that problem with the featured category.

Thanks for your time on this thistimethisspace

I just noticed that all my non sticky posts are not showing up on the site correctly. They get published, but do not show on the home page, which uses the news page template, nor on the blog page. All posts, those that are functioning correctly and those that are not, have the same category, Books, which make them appear on both pages. The following post should show up on those two places, but does not.

It's not an "option". It's a section, and it's based on chronological order. Just as you said: "items will only move into the 'more articles' area once they've been pushed out of 'recent articles' by new posts".

so sticky goes into the slider and anything else with a featured image goes into 'recent articles'.
Not exactly:
1) Only 3 posts go into 'recent articles';
2) Sticky with a featured image that isn't large enough doesn't go anywhere.

It has raised one more question though...

In Settings > Reading, where I can set the number of posts that can be displayed, if I have that set to 10, does that mean it will only ever show 1 in 'more articles'? i.e. x6 on the slider, x3 in recent articles and then x1 in more articles?

Or does it only refer to the number of posts that appear in recent articles and more articles?

Thanks!

Thanks. So does that mean that items will only move into the 'more articles' area once they've been pushed out of 'recent articles' by new posts?

I have an article that I did not want to attach an image to, and therefore wanted to populate in the 'more articles' section rather than the recent/featured articles area. All the documentation says that featured and recent posts are essentially the same, it just depends whether you have marked it as sticky or not - so sticky goes into the slider and anything else with a featured image goes into 'recent articles'.

I'm not sure why the theme would offer me the option of 'more articles' if there wasn't a way to post something to that area?

Hi there. I've searched all of the documentation and threads about this theme and cannot find an answer on this.

Unlike many users, I have managed to set up the featured slider and primary and secondary menus without a problem. And i'm aware that there is a difference between the .com and .org versions. And in the .com version, there is no 'location' option in the 'screen options' tab.

I am using .com.

So bearing all this in mind, does that mean that secondary posts, those that are not featured and do not have an image, which in the demo screen (on the ailenwp site and therefore not geared to .com) appear towards the bottom of the screen, can't be used if the blog is on .com?

I would like to be able to use the secondary posts area as well as featured posts but because there is no 'location' box, I can't find how I make a post appear in this area? The template has the 'more articles' header which suggests it is possible, I just can't figure out how.

Someone please help!

I have tried making a WP 33 times so far. This is my 34rth time. I have 34 Emails so far, and can't even get the themes to work right on my page. I hope WP servers gets hacked so bad they never come back up. Something as bad as WP don't even need to be online. Hope that wp gets hit with a DDoS attack flood so hard, that it's going to cost them more $ than what it's worth !

Yes that's it. The slider displays up to six sticky posts. The "recent articles" section displays your latest three (non-sticky) posts. The "more articles" section displays the rest of your recent posts; the number of posts it displays is set in Settings > Reading.

Really, that's it?

Thanks for answering btw, so there is no location where you can prioritise posts?
And is there a way to find out when recent posts become -not recent- meaning they'll go the the more articles category? is it time based or based on the amount of posts made?
