Here's the theme description page and here's the live demo site.
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/autofocus/
http://autofocusdemo.wordpress.com/

AutoFocus’ prominent single post featured images, which when set manually are placed front and center, above your post’s title and content. The maximum width of single post featured images is 800.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options
If you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options.

AutoFocus responds to not only single image posts but also full galleries. If you would prefer to forego a large featured image above your post content and instead showcase an entire set of photos then simply insert a gallery into your post without manually setting a featured image.

Main page and archive pages on Autofocus don't rely on featured images. Featured images have to be set manually to each post. Each post on the main page and on category/archive pages will display a regularly inserted image (provided the image had been uploaded via the Add Media button of that post).

The only difference is when you view a single complete post: regular image shows below the post title, max width 590px, featured image shows above the post title, max width 800px.

I am desperatly trying to make my home page (static) looks like the demo of autofocus.

Even though I don't want a post or news page, I tried it thinking it might be the solution to my problem. The news page looks now like a mosaic, the gallery is full width but tumbnails are not adjustable, and there is dates which I don't want on my home page.

If I simply add a gallery in mosaic on my home page, I have the result I want but not with the full width of the web site.

Is there a way for me to get a full width mosaic on my static home page, which I could link every picture to a single page ?

Thank you !!!!

One thing to note is that when you start using a lot of "!important" tags, it can start getting really tricky.

Another thing I found is that the CSS3 spec states that,"in terms of stacking contexts and the painting order, the outer shadows of an element are drawn immediately below the background of that element, and the inner shadows of an element are drawn immediately above the background of that element (below the borders and border image, if any)." Source: http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/#the-box-shadow

I interpret the spec as saying the background element will override the outer shadows (i.e. box-shadow). It looks like some browsers interpret the spec differently than others (which is why it varies by browser). Try adding "background: inherit !important;" to the first block currently saved in your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor to see if that helps your specific case.

The class names for a tiled gallery are a little different. Try adding ".tiled-gallery" to the front of your first two selectors and use ".tiled-gallery-item" in the middle of the third one. Here is a modified version of your example to illustrate:

.tiled-gallery img[class*=align],
.tiled-gallery img[class*=wp-image-],
#content .tiled-gallery-item img {

heids82	- as others have said, to link to any galleries here, just copy-paste the address from your browser's address bar into the forum post.

For example, here is one:

http://livinginlimericks.wordpress.com/2012/12/13/moments-in-cork/

That gallery looks quite lovely to me! Is there something about it that doesn't look like what you'd expect? As justjennifer said, the reason the gallery isn't taking up the full width of the page is that the Twenty Ten theme displays posts in a two-column layout, with the right column currently containing the search box, Archives, and Meta.

If you want your gallery to take up the full width of the page you could look for a different a theme that displays posts in a full-width layout, instead of a two-column layout.

justjennifer - I've moved the newer post you referenced into the Themes forum. (The older one is already closed because of its age.)

As for the large images, I was referring to the large size you are uploading. You should use a photo editing program to compress them for the web. There is no reason to upload full sized images for the web when the screen displays only 72dpi and your theme displays only a limited width. Your pages will load faster and you won't waste storage space.

If you use the rectangular type of gallery, then the images will be displayed in different sizes. A large photo on the left with two or three smaller photos on the right (or vice versa) is perfectly normal. In your post http://livinginlimericks.wordpress.com/2012/12/13/moments-in-cork/ you can see both arrangements left and right.

As for the large photo at the end of that gallery, try changing its position so a landscape image (a picture that is wider than it is tall) is the last one. It will cause the gallery to rearrange itself, possibly to a more attractive design.

@heids82 - the reason they are "off to the left" is because you are using a right sidebar (which has the Archives and Meta widgets) on your theme.

my blog is http://www.livinginlimericks.wordpress.com and all four posts are having the same issue with large photos off to the left-but maybe that's just how the themes are set up to be?

I'm not sure what a link to the gallery is, sorry I'm new at this! But I did find that my pictures all show up when I use a wide-framed theme as mentioned above. I'm now using twenty ten and it seems to work okay. I notice that the photos are pretty large though, and off to the left a bit. Please let me know how I can give you a link to the gallery.
