Hi timethief -

thank for the replies.
I am designing a wedding website, so in this case it's okay if the blog does not get huge hits through search spiders. :)

Visitors can access the post through the featured image, which also has text on it. I removed the post titles because even though Mixfolio is a great theme, the post title design leaves much to be desired, I am afraid. I would have used the customization option for Mixfolio, but it says that there are only limited options now, and with this in mind I am not willing to spend 30 bucks for a small change (changing type size and color).

Nevertheless, really appreciate the answers on such short notice.

edited version (I apologize for the typos above):
I don't believe that this can be changed with CSS editing. All you can do with CSS is change appearance. You can't change the way the theme functions and naturally every post must have a title. The title will becomes a permalink with the date stemp embedded in it. If there is no post title then what would search spiders index?

If there is no permalinked title then how will visitors access the posts?

Hi guys,

I am building my wedding website in the Mixfolio theme. Overall this seems to work nicely, but there's one thing that's bugging me:

When I mouse over the featured images, the images shows a black box. This box shows normally the post title, but I am not using post titles, so it's just a black spot and does not fit perfeclty into the overall design.

I can live with it if I have to, but does anybody know whether there is a way to change this black box? Turning off the mouse over would be also an option as long as clicking on the image leads to the post.

Thanks for any help,

WolfRam.

i'm trying to do the same thing with my home page image. i know you'll probably have to first make a second image of each link, but change the color of it. for example, what you have now is black, you should make another version of it in, red, let's say. so now you'd have the mouseover image. it's the code that i'm stuck on. i've searched and tested, but unfortunately haven't found any code that would work on wordpress.com yet

Actually I should have mentioned it in the original question itself...my bad.

The result of the forum search topic all discuss about images of static areas of the pages like Menu etc. my requirement was on the dynamic content, where the pics are different for each post. The current code I've in place addresses the need of each post. All I've to do is to give links to 2 images. It gets it working and I just need to get that rollover image not change its position.

But if there is something specific in those discussions that I need to pay attention to, let me know.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Sviyajak,

Your markup shows this:

<a>
<br />
<img width="333" height="500" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3203/5754190922_c286d36764.jpg" class="nohover" />

<br />
</a>

Notice the "
" tag in between the "<img>" tags and at the end of the second "img" tag. If you are adding them, that's your problem. If you are using the visual editor, then wp is adding them and you'll need to take them out yourself. To do this, click on the HTML tab (next to Visual) find and remove the "br" tags from your markup. Save.

If they're still being added by the software, a dirty workaround would be adding this to your CSS:

a br {display: none;}

See if that works.

Hello,

I have a photo blog hosted by wordpress. my requirement was to show an image on mouse over event (rollover...whatever that is called). After some searching, found that blogs hosted by wordpress aren't allowed to use javascript, so with the help of some folks managed to get a small set of CSS code working to get the image rollover.

Code added to the template:

img.nohover {
border:0
}
img.hover {
border:0;
display:none
}
a:hover img.hover {
display:inline
}
a:hover img.nohover {
display:none
}

Code for each post which needs an image displayed when mouse-rollover-event happens:

< a href="link.html">
<img alt="image" src="images/image.png" class="nohover" />
<img alt="imagehover" src="images/image.png" class="hover" />
</a>

On blogger platform this works perfect. Here is an example page showing it working.

On a wordpress platform it works, but the resulting mouse over image changes its position. An example of that is here.

Any ideas on how to go about fixing this? I'm new to CSS, but will take any help I can get on this.

Thanks,
-Sudhi.

I am a visually challenged blogger. I speak in favor of increased user accessibility and against all features that tend to decrease it.

I specifically speak against the introduction of animated cursors as they interfere with accessibility for visually challenged people, and those who suffer from visually triggered seizures as well. .

I speak against the introduction of useless, cutesy "tat," and stand in favor of an unwavering focus on the continued development of core wordpress software.

Thanks, for listening.
