Your new site is about a week old - it can take 4 to 6 weeks for search engines to fully sort and index a site - I started a new site and it took a few weeks for it to be indexed and to show up in the search results - I also think that search engines take how long a site and URL have in use for the search rankings -

I expect that search engines still have your old content in the index and are getting used to you being in a new address. It takes a while for search engines to clear their old cache and get used to a new URL.

On second thoughts, if I do that I loose any redirecting frm other blogs blogrolls that have not yet updated the link. So perhaps it d be best if I deleted all old posts but last from the old blog??? Don't know, just trying to be intuitive!

Hi Motre,
Let me see if I m following your point. Naturally I have imported all of the old blog content to the new, no one wants to loose ayear of work and start from scratch! However, I hadn't thought! I ve basically replicated all contents and that, I do know, penalizes the indexing. At this point I am strongly tempted to kill and cancel the old blog! So, pls help! Would that be too rash??? And would it help the indexing of posts (including imported ones) on new blog???

If you copied old blog posts from BlogSpot over to your new blog, that would definitely get you in a reduced index position on Google. A redirect as a last post (or not) on BlogSpot and all different posts on WordPress.com should not affect your indexing. It should see it as different content.

Why the readers are not following, I can't say. Consider a mapped domain name.

Hello Timethief,
I sure did. And verified my new blog with google, and readdressed from old to new. I even changed blogspot setting telling search engines not to search for old blog because someone told me that would penalize indicization of new blog!

I have just moved from blogspot and whilst I am mostly pleased with my decision I am worried because I could not avoid noticing a drammatic drop in visits to my blog. PARTICULARLY FROM SEARCH ENGINES! And yet, when I check it out I find my posts have been indicized by Google. What should I think and more importantly do???
