If you are trying to move your blog and content from WordPress.COM to Godaddy - you buy hosting from Godaddy and set up a custom domain name for that account at Godaddy and install the WordPress.ORG software

Then you export the content from here and import the content to the Godaddy blog -

you can't transfer the whole blog to Godaddy like a blog can be transferred to another account

You can transfer a custom domain name to another Registrar but it is not necessary as the name servers can be changed to the new host

Hi,

I am getting extremely stressed and confused. I have built a wordpress blog with wordpress. I am wanting to move my blog to another server (godaddy.com). I had to set another wordpress account up with GoDaddy.

I have tried to transfer through wordpress and gone through all the steps, however it says I can not transfer to that account or username (the wordpress account I have set up with GoDaddy) Its the big red warning box that says once you have transferred the blog you will lose ownership ect.

It says before the transfer is complete they will email me, however I get no email come through as it says I can not transfer to that user.

So super confused. Do wordpress have a contact number/help line you can ring them on?

I have been using domain mapping on my blog with a domain I bought from Godaddy (mydomain.com) about 7 months ago.
Now I wanted to move the blog to wordpress.org so I opted to unmap my domain from wordpress.com and then went to Godaddy to install wordpress on my domain. But whenever I try to visit mydomain.com/wp-admin, it redirects to mydowmain.wordpress.com and I'm told I can't register it because it's already reserved. What's weird is that it redirects to a url I've never used for my wordpress.com site. Is therre anything I'm doing wrong? I'm losing a lot of traffic already as it is

There is no easy way which is not to say the process is difficult. You log out of wordpress.com. Go here > http://wordpress.org and on the top right hand corner of that page register a wordpress.org username account as all your support must come from there - not from here.

You hire a web host, your set up a wordpress.org install, equip it with a theme and plugins. Then you export your content out of your wordpress.com blog into a wordpress.org install. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/ The text widget content is not exportable and must nbe copied and pasted. The widgets in the wordpress.org install will not include the many "in-house" wordpress.com widgets.

After you have installed and activated the JetPack plugin you return to this support forum and provide both URLs and Staff will transfer your email subscribers only (follwers who use the Reader cannot be transferred.)

You will be responsible for all upgrades, installations, backups and troubleshooting. If you install a theme or a plugin that negatively affects your blog, then you have to figure out what went wrong and fix it.
Well according to some brilliant ones earlier
Allegedly I'd need 1,500 hits to qualify for AD usage despite they fact they are making $8 a month.....they said it not me....
I have a nice ball rolling and a nice gain in support.....quickly-ish I may add.
I believe if someone is willing to pay for the ads or the right to host its a done deal.
So if we put like an $8, $10 ad for a month on a page or at the end of 30 stories....and they get 30 clicks....you know?
I had some people say they'd pay $30 for full ad usage

If you're interested in moving to WordPress.org, we do offer an upgrade called Guided Transfer (available in the Store section of your blog's Dashboard) where we take care of everything for you: http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/

Otherwise, you'll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider. We have some recommendations at http://get.wp.com/hosting/

Once that's done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:
http://wordpress.org/support/
http://codex.wordpress.org/

We do offer yearly and one-time premium support packages for self-hosted WordPress sites through our VIP program, available at http://vip.wordpress.com

We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can apply for at http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/

Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:
http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.

Please see this link to learn about the differences:
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested:

Also, I guess I am not even THAT good
according to your great math skills
240 = 25 x 12
According to REAL math
that would 20 x 12
So thanks for giving me more credit than I deserve.
