I am very new to WordPress and have never used it before so looking for a bit of help!

The home page of my blog (as you can see) contains all of my blog posts. What I want to do is move the post that I put up yesterday onto the "Travel" page, but so that I can still see it on the main page also. I want this so that eventually when I have more posts, if a person is only interested in my travel posts, that they don't have to scroll through all of the posts to find them - that they can just click the "Travel" page and they'll all be there. But like I said, I want to do this and still have ALL of my posts on the main page.

Can I do this?
Thanks

There's no button you can push. Copying them (cut and paste) is the only way. Some people try to use pages as if they were junior blogs, but it's rather clumsy. Pages don't allow tags, and it's said that Google tends to ignore pages. The easiest thing is to assign categories to your posts, let them all appear sequentially in the main blog page (Home) and use the "Categories" widget so your readers can easily find the different topics.

However I would also like all existing posts to be moved across to the new username. Does this happen automatically when changing the username. I do not want to start a new blog.

Probably the best way to do this would be to create a new category and assign that category to the posts you want to move. Then during the export process, you can specify to move only the posts in that particular category. After you get them moved over, you can delete that temporary category on the new site. During the import, make sure and select to have wordpress copy over the images as well.

On the existing site, you can then filter the posts list by that category and that will make it easier to delete those posts.
