http://methodsofdance.wordpress.com/ - sorry, I was certain I saw it listed in my original support submission. I wanted to do a little research and testing before responding. Here's the situation: up until this past Saturday, my blog looked like this screen capture: http://wp.me/a1grTM-2Hq. It appeared the same on every browser, device, and operating system. Then starting on Sunday, it appeared like this on my laptop in every browser: http://wp.me/a1grTM-2Hr. I have now checked the appearance on every type of device, browser, and OS available at my office: PC (Windows 7 & 8), Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Android. Unfortunately, there is no consistency in the font rendering - the blog looks like either of the two screen captures, but with no clear pattern of behavior. Just doesn't make any sense why the fonts are no longer displayed the same everywhere. Thanks for your assistance.

I'm working on this site: http://2013event.wordpress.com

We have mapped it to the domain http://www.indiepressday.com

I've noticed a few things that worked under the original WordPress.com URL, that don't seem to work when you're on indiepressday.com. Trying to figure out if these are quirks related to the Mystique theme or if something's set up incorrectly?

1) The site title does not appear at the top of the browser window. If you go to http://2013event.wordpress.com the title displays correctly, but from http://www.indiepressday.com there's no title visible.

2) The Facebook and Twitter buttons don't work. From http://2013event.wordpress.com/ they work fine. From http://www.indiepressday.com they just load a blank page, unless I right-click and open in a new window (which isn't intuitive!)

3) Clicking the Indie Press Day header takes you to 2013event.wordpress.com, not to http://www.indiepressday.com. Not intuitive (we don't really want that WordPress URL to be visible to visitors, that was the point of domain mapping...)

4) I can't figure out how to link to a specific page from within the indiepressday.com domain. On every page, the URL is http://www.indiepressday.com with no subdomain. So for example, if I wanted to send someone straight to the contact page, I should be able to use the URL http://www.indiepressday.com/contact but that just sends you to the main page. (Of course, http://2013event.wordpress.com/contact works just fine, but isn't the URL we want to use.)

Are there known solutions for these issues? They all seem to be related to the domain mapping but I'm at a loss for how to resolve them.

Thanks!

In you custom CSS, you seem to have targetted the #access, #main, and #footer selectors in order to change the width of the page. You should instead be targetting the #container selector, as follows:

#selector{
width: 1050px;
}

Please remember to remove the original code you added for the #access, #main, and #footer selectors as it is unneeded and in order to avoid any confusion when editing the code in future.

As a side note, I would recommend using a maximum width of 1000px for your website. A majority of desktop users have screen size of 1024x768, thus a web page with a width of 1050px may not display as desired on their screens.

Hope this helps. :)

I'm customizing the CSS code in my Mystique template and have had no trouble up to now. After changing the width of the page, I can't seem to change the page left margin or center the body. I tried changing the margin, the padding, center aligning it, etc., but nothing seems to change it. I also searched through the page source code, but can find no reference to a left margin, padding, or alignment. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi,
My issue has nothing to do with pages/posts. My issue is that, following your advice, I created a custom menu, but it doesn't display anywhere on my site, and I can't figure out why.

I'm sure I created it properly. I can see it when I go into Appearance > Menus, but why isn't is appearing on my blog?

I've read pages and pages of instructions, but there's nothing about trouble-shooting custom menus that don't display.

There is no round the clock support other than this forum for free users. Since your latter questions are not related to the topic of this thread, you should probably do a forum search and find threads that are related to the topics you're seeking information on, since every support person already knows your original question has been answered.

Pages and Posts are a very basic distinction that I believe is covered in http://learn.wordpress.com

Is this forum the only support for WordPress? All the "Support" links seem to come back to here, but getting information here seems to be dependent on whether anyone can be bothered to help. Is there no *actual* support?
The FAQ section is useless.
