However, your followers will not, and you should notify them ahead of time that your site URL will be changing, and they should follow you at that new website to continue to receive your lovely posts.

Not so much, only in my dreams, but I tried a bunch of different names, and that really seemed to fit the tone and style of my blog, and I would rather not have to change it, unless of course keeping it involves jail time or a hefty fine.

Hello experts. I started my little project in blogging just under a week ago. Today I registered the address with my Google account to allow it to be searchable. My vanity wouldn't let me resist searching for myself, and in doing so, I found out that Cheeky Diva, while not registered to anyone for a domain name, is the name of a store, or chain of stores. Do I need to change the name of my blog to not infringe on their obviously previous use of this name? Please help. I don't want to get into some sort of trouble or step on anyone's toes, or misrepresent their organization or myself. I guess I should have Googled the name before I used it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Here's what you can do now to reach your end goal:

1) Setup a new custom domain for flynnspaws.wordpress.com (you can use the value bundle if you'd like)

2) Setup a site redirect from thebloggingpath.wordpress.com to the new domain from step 1

I was hoping this would be an idea to allow the implementation of this feature since both "blog addresses" are registered by the same administrator (me, of course).

What is your end goal?

1) To redirect traffic from the current site to the existing site and 2) to use a custom domain name on the existing site as my final setup and/or 3) all for ".me", of course.

I agree. The worst part is, I even contacted support and it's an indefinite unavailability. What the hell? They don't know when it's going to be back up, and they don't give you any other explanation. It's absolutely ridiculous. Plus, they don't tell you that that option isn't available period, if you buy a registered domain.

Atasteoftoronto,

Thanks for starting that new thread. If they do say that you can get a completely new registered domain for only $5, that would be awesome. I wish the instructions for using and registering personal domains like example.com were clearer!

@myfamilyrecipecollection: "Domain name" is used interchangeably by people to refer to one or two things:
- it can refer to the portion before ".wordpress.com" in your address (which is free and has always been), and which for the moment, cannot be changed.
- it can also refer to your own domain name registration, ending only in .com, .net, .co.uk, .fr, etc. That's never been free of charge. No rip-off here.

"Will you please help me clarify exactly what it is that you want to do?"

I want to change my blog address from what it is now (amusperspective) to something else. So, for example, it is currently amusperspective.com, I want to change that to something completely different, like myblog.com. It's the change blog address option that it says is unavailable, and that's what I've been asking about. I'm not having trouble with mapping like you said, that's not what I'm asking about. I'm asking about the option to change my name/address completely, which it said I could do when I signed up.

Please help!

Thank you

posts
pages

There is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. When you first get your blog that is the front page of the blog. If you do not want the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and also create a “blog” page for your posts to display on.
create 2 pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
assign one as a static page & one as a blog page for post to display on > Settings > reading http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
