after shopping around for a new theme with out authors byline and being given zero theme's in the search results;

i went back to my blog admin page and checked around.

i then found a section where the name of the theme is displayed and buttons, like customize.

under customize, i found one of the options to be "modify title and tagline".

i kept the title but removed the data in the tagline field which contained my name, ie authors name.

deleting that date successfully removed the authors name from the title on the pages.

problem solved.

I didn't notice this peculiarity involving some themes. I thought i had chosen a basic one with basic colors and basic features.

I will definitely look around for a new theme. (Unfortunately, with sooooo manyyyyyy themes, i really hate shopping around for the right one.)

Some themes display author bylines and some do not. There is no free way to remove an author byline. You can switch to a theme that does not display a byline though. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/

i already understood the method of inviting myself. This was provided to me in an email which states:

another example is that if i choose to create a page with a recipe for a unique soup, i would want to cite the author as Ms. Kitchen instead of my user i.d. which is databaseben.

and i really don't want to create a new word press account for Ms.Kitchen.

Is there not an easy way to create a different name to replace the authors name of my pages?

I mean, if i want a page on my blog to cite the author as being John Doe, then why can't i create it easily, instead of signing up as John Doe?

Perhaps, a field where i can select the standard name from the list (like it has now) but also have the option to manually type in a name i want displayed as the author of a page.
