Dear WordPress team,
Community members,

I have a problem that I don't know how to solve it, i tried everything. More then a few months everything worked well, including yesterday but today when I checked almost all of the features images from posts were gone. Even if the images are shown in post-edit-page, after the page is published the feature image is gone.
I tried removing the feature images from the posts, re-replace it, it doesn't show at all. I tried creating new posts with new feature images and is the same.

All I know I did was to activate the Akismet plugin to protect the blog from spam.
Could it be because of this, can anybody help?

A link to the blog can be viewed here, I am suing a modified Deep Focus theme powered by WordPress:

Yes you can purchase upgrades and still have your blog free hosted by wordpress.com. The support documentation is quite clear IMHO on what the upgrades allow and do not allow.

You do not have to purchase a bundle > http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/ as all upgrades can be purchased individually > http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/

http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/

Is it worth the upgrade?

My answer is don't purchase any upgrade that you don't actually need. I recommend that those who are new to blogging use the tutorial http://learn.wordpress.com and focus on content creation for at least 3 months before they even consider purchasing any upgrades at all.

@handsoffmyshoes06
Linking your WordPress.com username to your WordPress.com blog is the best free advertising you can get. It's easily done.

Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

Here are 25 basic steps to take to increase traffic to your blog:
1. Structure a reader and search engine blog;
2. In blogging content is king create unique, high quality content so publish fresh content frequently;
3. Learn basic SEO so you can use keywords effectively and apply basic SEO to your headlines, blog and posts;
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results.
4. Make your blog posts look professional;
5. Create at least 4-6 pillar posts and continue to create pillar posts;
Pillar posts are also referred to as flagship content. Pillar posts are comprehensive posts that offer great value to readers as the contents are timeless in nature. They define you as having authority in the niche you blog in.
6. Select and link to appropriate anchor text;
7. Leave meaningful comments on related blogs and encourage comments on your own blog;
8. Develop relationships with other bloggers so you can build a blog readers’ community around your own blog;
9. Support the blog centered communities on related blogs by commenting on them and promoting posts from them;
10. Link to authoritative sources in your posts;
11. Deep link to your earlier related posts in your new posts;
12. Assign appropriate categories and tag your posts with care;
13. Link to related authoritative blogs in your blogroll;
14. Provide RSS feeds for subscribers;
RSS (Rich Site Summary or really simple syndication) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
15. Having a well designed theme is important, evaluate your theme for effectiveness, and if required, create a new header, make improvements or replace your theme and reduce page loading time;
16. Avoid cluttering your blog with widgets that lack reader value and slow page loading time;
17. Buy your own domain and domain mapping;
18. Verify your blog with the three big search engines.
19. Get organized, use an online to do list by developing a blogging workflow;
20. Join social networks and social media sites like Facebook and use Twitter, Friendfeed and other Free RSS directories to promote your blog posts;
21. Promote your blog through social networks, online groups, and selected directories;
22. Develop a social media time management strategy and stick to it;
23. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival;
24. Become a guest blogger on sites with higher page rank than your own site.
25. Create newsletters and/or ebooks for your subscribers.

Do note that if you have been told "build it and they will come" that's nonsense. There is no such thing as passive blog promotion. It's up to the blogger to learn how to structure a reader and search engine friendly blog, publish interesting fresh content frequently, and promote every post they publish throughout social networks.

I think what your blog and every other blog needs is a skilled and savvy blogger and targeted readers. Targeted readers are those who arrive on your site because they already have an interest in the content your posts and blog contain. They have typed keywords and phrases into search engines and located your posts in the SERPS (search engine page results) and clicked through. The fact that targeted readers already have an interest in the content in your posts means they are likely to read more than one post, more likely to leave comments, and more likely to become regular readers/subscribers.

Consequently, the first step for any blogger to take to establish a flow of targeted readers to their blog is learning and applying the use of basic SEO elements, and relevant categories and tags, so their posts and blog are actually accessible to potential readers, who use search engines to locate content on subjects of interest to them. http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/basic-seo-elements-for-bloggers/
