Any text I type in gets placed where a footer would go. I am not putting any images on these pages, just text. This has never happened before, so I have no idea what is going on.

You file the posts under the appropriate category, and you create a custom top menu that will include that category. See here:

You create the intro page and a blank page via Pages > Add New, then you go to Settings > Reading and set the intro page as your front and the blank page as your posts page.

(You can check by going to Appearance > Menus and looking in the "Theme Locations" box on the left.) If so, you will have to add the new page to your custom menu.

With WordPress, you use categories to organize posts into subjects and then you can add those dynamic Categories pages which update whenever you publish a post to your navigation using a custom menu.

That's ok, but it requires an extra click to get to the posts, and more work on your part to create each link.
What raincoaster and thesacredpath suggested is: add a "30 day challenge" category to all the relevant posts, then create a custom top menu that will include that category as well as the Home tab and the other static pages. Detailed instructions here:
