There's an issue with creating posts on the front page of WordPress.com and with editing posts created there that will not be fixed until the next upgrade. Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/

Instead I recommend that you ONLY create posts here > Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

If you are, please do these four things:

1. Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

If you are not successful let us know which browser (and version of it) you’re using and post any error reports you get.

I have been having this same issue for a few months now too. I type my blog information after clicking "New Post" and I get "unauthorized" in red letters.

I actually just posted successfully by going through the Dashboard. The issues is happening when I try to use the New Post button directly from the home page. I'm using Internet Explorer, not sure which version. Going to give it a shot with Chrome next time and see if that helps.

Dozens and dozens of people are reporting this lately. What browser and version are you using? Are you using the New Post button in the Admin bar or Dashboard->Posts->Add New?

This past week I've tried to post my blog several times. Each time I click "Publish", it changes to "Publishing", but it never actually publishes. It remains in the "Publishing" phase indefinitely. I've tried just letting it go for up to an hour, and no luck. Has anyone else ecountered this problem? I've been posting for over a year and never had any difficulty.

Hi brilliantmaniafilms,

Thanks for your patience. We fixed the issue which is why you didn't see it the last time around.

In regards to the post you've already published, justpi's suggestion* will fix things so your post title will be displayed. (I'm sorry for the inconvenience!)

As for viewing your blog from a mobile browser (like your iPhone), the mobile theme will always display the post title.

* Here are the steps:

In Appearance -> Themes, switch to a theme that supports post formats, like Twenty Twelve or Twenty Eleven.
Navigate to Posts -> All Posts.
Move your cursor over the post that wasn't displaying the post title when viewing your blog home page (Filmmaker Sets Out to Fight Stigma Around Bipolar Disorder), then click Quick Edit that appears under it.
In the Format drop down, choose Standard, then click Update.
Switch your theme back to Vostok, then view your blog home page to verify that the post title appears.

To be more precise in the future we have to know the difference and point between "posts" and "pages"...

this is so aggravating to do all that writing then get unauthorized message! have never been able to post with a category always have to go back and edit to catogorize the post. Still having same problem with widget image ..haven't tried to put any on and all of a sudden there are these messages or little blue boxes. there are just so many things wrong lately seems wp is becoming like face book or walmart so big they can't supply the services they could before ..but a t least most of it is free.
would appreciate any help I can get with these ..and remember I don't do techno so keep it slow and simple for this old woman. God Bless!

sulitnih...thanks for your reply...but...I found the solution. To make sure your post is posted to the 'Recent Posts' column...one must make sure to use the 'Posts [Add New]' LINK at the top of the page.

Maybe the menu you have selected is not a special post, but special pages. Pages will appear above the menu and in the recent pages, not in recent posts. Sorry if it is not clear, what is the title of the post # 42.?. If # 42 was MASTER COMMANDANT RICHARD SOMERS – that is the pages.

Thanks for checking into this. Yes, I did enter a post title of "Filmmaker Sets Out to Fight Stigma Around Bipolar Disorder*"

Here's an interesting turn...I happened to be on my iPhone when I checked my email from you and the title shows up on my phone, but not in my browser. Don't know if that helps any. The other titles are there, in both phone and browser, but this one is not.

I had posted a test before submitting to help and that title didn't show either, but I deleted it. I just posted another test and that title DOES show up. Maybe it was just a glitch in the time that I posted?

Do the titles show? If not, it could be because you used the New Post button on the grey Admin bar instead of going to your Dashboard Add New Post menu item. Unfortunately this is a known bug; it creates Asides, not real posts. You will have to make sure you're using a theme that supports post formats, edit the posts to switch format to Post, and then update. You can switch back to your old theme afterwards.

Up to posting my 41st post, the posts are displayed under 'Recent Posts'. My posts #42 & #43 are being displayed - in red - at the top of the screen along with the heading 'About This Blog'. Why aren't posts #42 & #43 shown under 'Recent Posts'?

Yes, this is happening to all kinds of people right now. It's because you're using the new Post button in the admin bar and there's a bug with it. It only creates Asides, not real posts.

You have to change themes to one that supports Post Formats, then edit the post to make it a Post, not an Aside (on the right hand side of the Edit Post page), then change back to your original theme.

When i manually post to my status my blog address i have two problems.
1. Block title is empty while in settings i have put a blog title.
2. It's puts in post my full name as the owner of the blog. I dont want that and also the owner of the blog is another user i made with nick name.

How can i fix those 2???

I tried emptying cookies and caches, reconnecting facebook account in wordpress settings. No luck at all.

I don't understand how this happens, but the last two posts I made have no name. I gave them titles, I know it! In the reader you can see the name but not on my blog page...
Why is it like this?

Yes, it's a bug that's been reported. Do not use the New Post button; not only does it create Asides, rather than Posts, but it also doesn't work with the autosave.

Very frustrating problem. Please help. My members all prefer to use the New Post Feature on the admin bar. This is the one that pops up at the top of the page, so they can see the published posts as they write their new one. The problem is that they is no title published with their post. I have a list of recent posts, so as administrator I have had to take the posts which were given numerical titles by WordPress and edit them so they have titles. Please fix the title issue. Theme is Coraline.

Don't ever EVER use that button. It's a source of all kinds of problems. Dozens of people have reported that issue lately, and the ones who succeed in posting from it are sorry later.

Go to Dashboard->Posts->Add New and write your posts from there.
