Probably last week I updated my blog to show full posts rather than a summary. I also unticked the options to view tags and categories etc. I read up a little and apparently after I had written another post it would update. I've written a few since and it hasn't. I also ran ccleaner to get rid of history/cookies etc to see if that would work... nothing.

Can we expect an update of this widget so that it allows for the most basic customization?

CSS can only reach things that are served from the same domain as the originating site. That means that you can style anything *before* the Facebook widget gets added (i.e. maybe the outer most border *if* it's outside the embedded widget part and maybe the shape of the container for the widget), but you cannot use CSS to adjust the appearance of stuff inside the Facebook widget because it's embedded using an iframe and Facebook controls that content.

Here is an example of making the container widgets wider within the scope of your blog which is using the Twenty Eleven theme:

I wonder if it's expectable an update to the Facebook widget.
It's quite primary as it is. Facebook at least allows for some basic customization on their developers site.

We need basic thing like setting the color of the borders and background to make the widget fit with our themes.

...And it looks like we're stuck with the worst setup, too: asymmetric, with borders of different colors, bugs, a total mess...

Can we expect an update of this widget so that it allows for the most basic customization?

This is my first blog.

I write a blog that primarily focuses on startups (eg the next Facebook or Twitter). I write about stories or topics I find interesting or relevant.

The blog hardly gets much traffic or attention. I would appreciate feedback on: quality of writing, formatting, appearance, relevance? How can I make this a better blog? How can it appear on the frontpage of x website?

I've been asked to add a news section. News tab in menu exists, there is a post under 'news' visible in archives. I want to not show news under 'latest projects' on homepage but to show up under archives and (obviously) under 'News' menu tab. Currently clicking 'News' shows Projects. Projects menu tab should clearly show projects not news.

Any advice would be helpful. BTW, very new to wordpress and not well versed on it's propper use...

As for a news ticker, I'm not aware of any that work here, as they are usually script-based, and scripts are stripped out for security reasons. You can use an RSS widget instead in your sidebar.
