Indeed and you have just uncovered the fact that WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different and what works on self hosted installs does not work on self hosted WordPress.com blogs. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Not sure how it works on a wordpress.com site as I am hosting wordpress my self.

Make sure you are using Maps engine's export function to get the properly formatted html code. Before I found this (see link in my post above) I experimented with iframs and what should have been the source for the map, with out success. When you have the html code, go into your post/page and enter text view. Insert the html for the iframe and save. When you switch back to visual view, it should show a yellow box that reserves the map's position.

Try this sample html for a test map I have created:

<iframe src="http://mapsengine.google.com/map/view?mid=z478toXNq3Dk.k_A5FC3WSL9s" width="640" height="480"></iframe>

I completely agree with not switching to new version. I have a complaint with pinterest that is now 4 days old and they are not replying it back. I asked them to switch me back to older version until they fix the problem but I doubt they will fix it and I doubt they will switch me back! I will be sad to leave pinterest. But there is not even an apology coming from pinterest

Okay, whew, I thought it was just me. I have been searching all over the web looking for answers. I cannot embed pins in my posts any longer and when I click update it disappears. I went to Pinterest and asked for help but they kept redirecting me to their page which is supposed to instruct you. After them redirecting me they sent an email stating that my issue was resolved.... what? Nope... it certainly was not.
I am wishing that I did not switch over so quickly to the new version as apparently some people are still on the old version and able to embed pins.

I am very new to this, thanks for your patience. When I see pinned from under a pinterest post is that the link or tag I use for example cteativespotting.com and I would caption this under my picture. And if someone where interested in finding the origin they could type this in, and does this let the originator know I have given credit?

I'm also frustrated with this new feature of Pinterest. I want to use the images I find there, but give credit to the source and if I just go ahead and "save image as" the image it won't link back to the original pinner when I use it in my blog. Having the images embedded was so handy!

I've however got round the problem by finding the source website and typing that web address as a caption to the photo. So I do "save image as" from Pinterest to save it to my PC, but at least my caption will give the link to the original website/photographer.
