Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. See here for what I do to compel readers to read posts on my site > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/

Hi all,

I recently started my second blog, Life of Me and Mine, and I've been getting likes and a few followers. This is good. What is not good, is that I've had no views at all, apparently. I know there are ways for users to like and subscribe and whatnot without going on-site fully, but really. 3 followers and 17 likers haven't even been on my site? That's unlikely.

Anything going wrong?

Hi,
I started my blog in mid january and I've been getting between 50-100 views a day recently. The last 5 days I couldn't upload anything. However today, I've had 6 views. One of them was me. A few days ago, I searched the term "panasonic logo" and my blog was second on Google images. It's now not even registering. It's as though the site has disappeared from search engines. I tweeted around 5 or six links to my blog and I've had nothing back.

Any ideas what might have happened?

I know the blog has been deleted, I deleted it. I've done all of the stuff you've mentioned but this really seems to be missing the point of my problem. The point is that I was recieving between 5 and 15 (not alot but it was a start) views a day. Consistantly. Everyday. Mostly reffered by google. On the EXACT day I changed the domain name, the views ceased completely, and as the views I was getting reffered from google were specifically for articles and not a search related to the blog's name itself, I can't see why there was a sudden cessation. I know you can't do anything about traffic loss but this wasn't a gradually drop off. It was a complete and sudden stop of all activity at all. I hope I've worded this so it's easier to understand my problem. Thanks.

If your concern is increasing views and traffic please click the link. Here are 25 basic steps to take to increase traffic to your blog:
1. Structure a reader and search engine blog;
2. In blogging content is king create unique, high quality content so publish fresh content frequently;
3. Learn basic SEO so you can use keywords effectively and apply basic SEO to your headlines, blog and posts;
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results.
4. Make your blog posts look professional;
5. Create at least 4-6 pillar posts and continue to create pillar posts;
Pillar posts are also referred to as flagship content. Pillar posts are comprehensive posts that offer great value to readers as the contents are timeless in nature. They define you as having authority in the niche you blog in.
6. Select and link to appropriate anchor text;
7. Leave meaningful comments on related blogs and encourage comments on your own blog;
8. Develop relationships with other bloggers so you can build a blog readers’ community around your own blog;
9. Support the blog centered communities on related blogs by commenting on them and promoting posts from them;
10. Link to authoritative sources in your posts;
11. Deep link to your earlier related posts in your new posts;
12. Assign appropriate categories and tag your posts with care;
13. Link to related authoritative blogs in your blogroll;
14. Provide RSS feeds for subscribers;
RSS (Rich Site Summary or really simple syndication) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
15. Having a well designed theme is important, evaluate your theme for effectiveness, and if required, create a new header, make improvements or replace your theme and reduce page loading time;
16. Avoid cluttering your blog with widgets that lack reader value and slow page loading time;
17. Buy your own domain and domain mapping;
18. Verify your blog with the three big search engines.
19. Get organized, use an online to do list by developing a blogging workflow;
20. Join social networks and social media sites like Facebook and use Twitter, Friendfeed and other Free RSS directories to promote your blog posts;
21. Promote your blog through social networks, online groups, and selected directories;
22. Develop a social media time management strategy and stick to it;
23. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival;
24. Become a guest blogger on sites with higher page rank than your own site.
25. Create newsletters and/or ebooks for your subscribers.

Do note that if you have been told "build it and they will come" that's nonsense. There is no such thing as passive blog promotion. It's up to the blogger to learn how to structure a reader and search engine friendly blog, publish interesting fresh content frequently, and promote every post they publish throughout social networks.

I think what your blog and every other blog needs is a skilled and savvy blogger and targeted readers. Targeted readers are those who arrive on your site because they already have an interest in the content your posts and blog contain. They have typed keywords and phrases into search engines and located your posts in the SERPS (search engine page results) and clicked through. The fact that targeted readers already have an interest in the content in your posts means they are likely to read more than one post, more likely to leave comments, and more likely to become regular readers/subscribers.

Consequently, the first step for any blogger to take to establish a flow of targeted readers to their blog is learning and applying the use of basic SEO elements, and relevant categories and tags, so their posts and blog are actually accessible to potential readers, who use search engines to locate content on subjects of interest to them. http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/basic-seo-elements-for-bloggers/

Not alot I know, but I'm still proud all the same. Anyway I changed the name of my blog because I was never really happy with the first one I chose. I've not had one single view since, well I had two views but there were both me. Just wondering whether somethings gone wrong or wether I just need to be patient.

Sounds like a spammer got into your blog and was trying to post malicious code. That's what the blank posts were: he was putting code in but our security features stripped it out. He was also clicking back to see the posts repeatedly, to judge if his handiwork had caused anything malicious. Since it didn't he probably kept tweaking the code and checking again and again and again. Now that you've locked him out by changing the password, you're safe from him and he's not bothering to check.

A good lesson in always having good passwords.
