Its not entirely foolproof as the card registered against can expire but it makes it less likely to be missed

So I am planning to upgrade to 5 GB space upgrade per year. However, my doubt is, what's happening if I upload for example 1 Gb of this new upgraded space with new pictures and content and then I did not renew next year the space upgrade? I will lost some content of my uploaded pictures? or simply I just will not be able to upload new pictures next year?
