I started my blog a few moths ago and really enjoy it but have a few housekeeping issues that I would like to clear up to allow me to enjoy blogging more. I have a basic set-up but am having trouble figuring out how to add a separate section for daily life, travel pics, food pics, and recipes. I have read a lot on the forum but am still having trouble. I think if I can get these these straightened up...my blog would be easier to follow and not too drawn out. What would these items be best set up as...widgets, categories, sub categories(of we're in Scotland), or somewhere all together? And how to get there without messing it all up? Any other comments would be appreciated as well. thank you.

I have tried to create a menu on my page, which is supported by my theme, and I can't find it anywhere on my page! I have two pages, one about Rants and one about Dreams, that I was trying to expand using menus. 'Another Psychotic Dream' and 'Random Rants' are supposed to be page names and the menu header should be simply 'Dreams' and 'Rants' but no matter what I do, I can't get it to show up like that. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank You!

They've done similar things in the past and the forums filled with angry bloggers with pitchforks and torches.

If you followed the link in note 3 on that post I referenced, there is a way to get full posts on the archives and categories pages as explained in http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/the-excerpt-function/ .

I want to change this list so I can see the complete post content (all text and photos) for the posts in a given category.

Hey, our blog is not hosted here, but it's a WordPress blog with a modified Kubrick template.

We'd like to start doing some e-commerce on our blog at goodrecordsnyc.com -- here's the interesting problem:

We can't post individual items for for sale as individual posts will swamp the main page's editorial content. We have hundreds of items for sale and it would be a mess. That we could tag them all as "Wall" category items would make organizing things for sale pretty easy. But we're pretty attached to the idea of one item - one post.

So the logical thing to do would be to make one page for each item for sale. The drawback there is that you can't associate categories with pages -- and we'd like one landing URL for the stream of individual pages.

Ideally, one could make a post to a tagged category and not have it appear on the main blog itself. Take a look and let me know if there is an easy, non-hackish solution.

Please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your nickname to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). We usually need that to give a relevant answer.

As you've found out, the pages widget will give you a list of all your pages, so there's no point in adding it more than once. Its title should refer to all the pages, what you're thinking of as "topics" should be actual (parent) pages, and what what you're thinking of as pages should be child pages.

Once you set things this way, you'll probably have to write links to the proper child pages in each parent page.

If you don't like the parent-child solution, you must remove the pages widget and add a text widget instead, in which you'll add links to your pages, with your "topics" as headings. You'll need coding for unordered lists - see here:

I am going to try and communicate this as best as possible. I want to organize my pages by topics. (Bios, Helpful Hints, etc) BUT when I go to add a new page it just goes under Bios. When I add the 'Pages' widget again it just adds another pages of bios like I have listed already. Is there a way I can seperate which pages go where? If so, how? I would like to make it to wear I can have helpful hints and have maybe 5 other pages under it. Like this:

_Biographies_
Aniká
Dexxler
Invidia
Kayto
Machettie
The RL Player

_Helpful Hints_
Alt Management
Northrend Daily Routine
Leveling Professions

thank you!
