Hey there,

It looks like your domain is currently pointed to your hostgator site, where you're currently working. You should be able to re-create the blog there with no issue; this should overwrite your existing attempt.

I am building a WP blog (Helping-You.biz) using a new theme (SqueezeMaker) and when changing the settings the whole site went jammed and I can't return to my Dashboard to fix the problem. Can I go to Hostgator and create a new WP site using the same domain? Will this overwrite the previous site and then I may start all over again?

However a large number of complaints might cause the Staff to rethink how some ads are displayed - there have been some ad companies that have been dropped for bad ads - so do send them the screen shot - can't hurt and if nobody complains nothing will change.

It's worth sending a screenshot just to register your displeasure, but don't expect too much. In my experience, staff are usually apologetic when ads are ugly or inappropriate, but since most ads are by third-party providers they don't have much more control over them than we do.

PS - a curse on not having a 5 min. "edit" window - Take a screen shot, save it on your blog somewhere or another photo sharing service and send the image link to the Staff.

You can buy the no ads upgrade for $ 30/year -

Take a screen shot of the offending ad and send the link to the staff - they do want to keep your site looking nice and they have seemed to have taken action in the past when ads were not displaying correctly. The normal contact form is closed for the weekend as the staff tries to dig out from a backlog of work - so you can either wait until Monday or contact them using the email below.

I GET that you have the desire to display your own Ads in order to keep WordPress.com free/cheap... I don't have a problem with that. But when said Ad's formatting overwrites the bottom of my post, and makes the page generally look like hell - THEN I have a problem with it.

Thanks for the link to your blog. And consider linking it in your user name as explained in the sticky, 8 Things, at the top of the forum.

As for your question - did you by any chance turn off comments on your posts? Edit the post and look down near the bottom under "Comments and Pings." Make sure you have both boxes checked.

Hi. I've actually read FAQ&Forum now couple times, but I'm stuck. So I'm sorry if I just didn't get it.

It seems to be impossible, at least sometimes, to leave comments on my blog.

Under Settings>Discussions, these are the only boxes I have ticked.

Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)
Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)
Allow people to post comments on the article

Comment author must fill out name and e-mail

An administrator must always approve the comment

So it actually should work, right? Why can't I and people not see the box where you could make comments?

Do I over write that people could leave comments? I actually HAVE some, so it must be possible to leave them sometimes, but then I get emails from people saying they couldn't, and, I just logged out to check, I didn't see anything where I could've posted one.

I'd basically like that everyone, who wants to, could leave a comment, logged in or not, and that I can approve them before they get posted. Is there another checkbox which over writes those settings?

You need to change the names. That has been the case for the more than two years I've been here, and I would imagine it will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future.

I post my art to my site. Sometimes I want to replace a posted image with a more recent version (my art is often work in progress). The problem is that even when I delete the old image from the original post and from the media library, then upload the new image (named the same as the old) WP actually pulls the old image back into my post and replaces the new upload with the old one on publish. This is a quirk that existed before the dashboard upgrade, and is not a problem so long as I settle for appended numbers in my filenames, but it would be nice to just overwrite old files with identical filenames.
