The Sight and Forever themes both feature sliders that scroll automatically. You can also check out the demos of our themes with featured sliders to find others that might work for you.

Open the editor of the post or page where you want to display a unique custom header image, and locate the Featured Image module in the bottom right corner under Page Attributes. Click Choose a Featured Image.

From what I am reading, it sounds like when editing a page you can do something with the post slider template? under page attributes, it says there should be a template drop down, but this is not showing up for me. I am not positive this is the solution for the post slider though. Please advise. Thank you!

Post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide, unless you make the post Sticky to show off in the featured slider, in which case they’re 750 pixels wide. Keep in mind: if you mark a post as Sticky but the featured image is less than 750 pixels wide, then it won’t display in the slider and will still disappear from the river of posts. Please be aware that you cannot crop the sticky post thumbnails.

but when i go into editing a page to create a sticky I can't change the template for the pages I want to use in the slider to showcase and the "page attributes" aspect of the editing settings isn't anywhere to be seen.

anyone have any ideas why the "page attributes" part isn't anywhere to be seen and how I can get it back up?

It is built using Pilcrow theme.

I am having a little trouble with the blog page. I have reset the template under page attributes to one column, no sidebar. When I preview, that's what there. However, as soon as blog posts are posted, the sidebar is back. Remove the posts and the sidebar goes away.

I'm stumped. Suggestions for how to fix this?

I think I'm OK now. Found the 'delete' for the custom menu and magically the problems disappeared. I probably just need some time in the saddle with this software ....

OK. I figured out the missing banner problem ... I needed a 'custom menu' to get my static pages to appear on the Home page.

That's no correct. Al, static pages automatically appear in the menu bar after publication. One does not need to create a custom menu if all they intend to have in it is tabs to static pages. Troubleshooting – My menu isn’t appearing
Go to the custom menu page in the dashboard Appearance > Menus and in the “theme location” module at upper left select your custom menu from the pulldown and then click “save”.

Troubleshooting – My pages are in the wrong order
Check the sub-pages themselves to see if you have established a Parent page and child page “hierarchical structure” in the page attributes module. Remove if required. Also remove any “order” numbers you have assigned that may conflict with the order you are creating by dropping and dragging. Or simply change them so they are the same order as you establish in the menu. Establish consistency – problem solved.

To create a showcase template, you need to go to Pages > Add New. That's the dashboard screen that should be displaying the Page Attributes module. If it isn't, you click Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ while on that screen (the page editor screen): and include all the Pages and Posts modules. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules each dashboard screen has different screen options.

Twenty Eleven has a special Showcase template which takes advantage of Featured Images when used on sticky posts:

An image with a minimum height of 300 pixels and a maximum width of 500 pixels will display next to the post.
An image that is at least 1000 x 288 pixels will be displayed instead of the post with a title over the image.
