Hi,
I'm trying to instert links to different chapter of one post, and even if there is in the "help" section some mention of it, it never seems to fit with my request and speaks about links to other posts instead of different chapters of the same one.

My instructions say write the destination code right before each section title: don't enter line breaks between the code and the title.

Frankly, I simply avoid switching between the two editors. I do the visual layout first, then put in the fiddly code, whatever it may be (in this case page jump code).

Hi,

Getting the code to work isn't the problem...it's getting the code to stay once I update the page. The 'destination' code spontaneously deletes itself if I refresh the page or move from the html editor to the visual editor.

My page jump code gets deleted when I move from html editor to visual editor, or when I update the page. This is REALLY irritating as, every time I edit my page, I have to add in ALL of the links again. Please help/fix this!

I'm now looking for a very specific clarification of the code(s) you supplied to mark a source and destination for a link from one blog post to another, on the same blog. My question is the exact way the codes would look if you want the destination link to open in a separate tab/window.
You gave a piece of the code to add to the beginning, but I don't know if that is in addition to the or in place of it. Could you write out a complete example? I'm starting to catch on.

Study my post please: it covers both cases. The source is one piece of code and the destination is another piece of code, no matter if it's on the same post or on a different post.

Thank you. I was hoping for an easier answer since I never have the time to sit down and experiment and I don't write code. But I suppose I'll find the time to see how it works. (A website at work has a special "anchor" link button for these kinds of links.)

Also, what if I want to jump to a specific text within a different post? The destination would be two pieces of code, right?

The backtick ` not to be confused with the single quote mark ' is located on the key to the left of the number 1 key in lower case on some keyboards.

I allus thought backticks were the same as belly ticks, but looks like I'm not gonna have to bother my head about 'em.

Y'see, Big Bubba here don't exac'ly foller all you city folks fancy language, but it sure as hell was clear ... to you ... that "two pieces of code" were necessary.

But I surely can see that the forum ain't for me. I kin learn what I needs to on my own.

@fretlessjohn: My post says, quite clearly I think, that you need "two pieces of code [...]: one at the source point and one at the destination point." You created the first one only (in the post), without adding its companion in the page. You need to edit the page and add this before the relevant paragraph:

The instruction as it relates to my wish to jump to a specific part of another page, was:

The jump link below takes the reader to the top of my static page, People. I was hoping to go down the page to the entry for Louise Napolitani

I wrote:
'It’s just sufficient to know that my character Weezy understands it.'
I hoped that in the sentence, 'It’s just sufficient to know that my character Weezy understands it.' that the 'Weezy' would be the jump. I also tried just 'Napolitani' for 'Louise Napolitani' to test whether the space was a problem.

Panos is very thorough - helped me a couple of times with sticky stuff and worked real nice -

however - the jump code is very tough the first few times - I did it once for a test and struggled for a while before I got it to work - which might be why I gave up the thought of using if for some projects on my site
