Yes, thank you. That is very good to know; I hadn't found that before!

What I'm wondering--and maybe I'm crazy for even thinking of this--is whether you can revert back to a previous revision of the entire blog. Or can you only revert back to previous posts in isolation?

In other words, are any versions of the blog as a whole autosaved or saveable?

Thanks,
Kathy

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Really what I'm wondering is if there's any way to save "drafts" of your entire blog?

I know it's a living website, but I get really nervous about messing something up and not being able to revert back to the way it was.

Can I save previous versions somehow? Apart from exporting the entire blog and saving it that way?

If I mess up when editing something, can I revert back? I haven't found an "undo"/ctrl+z function in the dashboard.

Thanks,
Kathy

Go to Pages > All Pagess, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Pages Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post.

Advice:
When you start a new page or post, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done with the page or post, set it back to publish and update it. The problem with apages and posts disappearing when saved as a draft has been around for a while, but only seems to hit a small number of people randomly.

The other choice is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don't have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc

You may be able to recover an earlier Page Revision. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/page-revisions/ Go to Pages > All Pages, hover over the title of the page, click Edit and check the Page Revisions module for previous saved versions of the page.

If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Pages > Pages and locate the page and recover it from page revisions.

If you cannot locate the page by using the instructions I provided for locating and restoring a page revision, and it's not in your Trash folder http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/ then you will not be able to recover it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

Advice:
When you start a new post or page, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done, set it back to publish and update it. Another option is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don't have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc

When publishing a page, all content was deleted. I created a new page, wrote content and then hit publish. I then went to preview and there was nothing that I'd written.

http://leaderwellness.wordpress.com/trial-and-success/

Please help! I'm hoping the content isn't completely gone, as I wasn't able to hit the back arrow and copy to try and re-post. Thanks!

Thank you for your help. It just happened to be in my trash folder. I didn't realize it was actually considered a post rather than a section that every blog has by default. Thank you again!!

Thank you for your help. I will try this soon. I am unsure what you mean by "bumping your own thread?" I accidentally posted this twice which is what I assume you are talking about? Let me know... I am very new to this. Thank you again.
