To find a page ID, you go to Pages > All Pages, hover over the page title and check the status/progress bar of your browser, or hover over the page title, click Edit and check the address bar of the browser.

Thanks for the swift reply.
The second link I had points to that very page. I tried but it does not work.
Do you mind taking a look at this screen capture. It shows what I am doing

Top left is the page edit; bottom left is the widget, right is my sidebar. As you can see all my pages are still there. I tried all lowercase and also capitalizing first letter.

Should I contact support?

This might be possible with CSS and the Custom Design upgrade by hiding two of the three footer widgets and then you would use either the custom menu widget (and heavily restyle it) in the remaining footer widget area, or you could create your own using HTML in a text widget.

Hello, I would like to place a custom menu widget at the bottom of my page. However it seems if you use this widget it only displays the menu in a vertical manner. Id like to display it horizontally with the submenus beneath each parent page. If I cant do this with the Page Widget or Custom Menu Widget, any ideas how to accomplish this? Thanks

Hi,

I recently upgraded my site to WordPress 3.0 (Thesis theme) and for some reason it changed the colors of ALL the hyper links on my site, specifically the text/links on the page widget on my left sidebar. I can't seem to change it back to the color I had before which is #342D7E.

I've been trying to change it in the custom.css stylesheet, but it doesn't seem to work. I also tried changing it under Design Options, but no luck.

#sidebar_1 #pages-3 { color: #342D7E; }

My site is http://www.hlemf.org

Any help with the sidebar text colors and all link colors would be greatly appreciated.

The header displays parent pages only. The Pages widget normally displays all pages; to hide some of them, you get their ID numbers and write it in the "Exclude" box of the widget.

(For the ID numbers, go to Pages>Edit, hover over each page title, and look at the bottombar of your browser.)

Hi, I'm struggling with a few issues that I haven't been able to resolve. My blog address: premanihan.wordpress.com

1. I managed to create subpages on the top page bar, and also hid other pages (as subpages) that I didn't want to show up top.

2. I want to create a Page widget on the sidebar, with each page on top listed also on the side, with subpages showing for some pages but not all. Now the pages I hid end up showing up in the side bar widget. How do I also hide them in the side bar

3. When I created one page on the side bar (Hakomi), other pages and their subpages show up as well. I want pages to show up separately, each with its own larger title.

Hope this is not too confusing, thanks.

- Change the title of your "Home" page (can be anything, or nothing; I think your front will look too plain in the second case, but that's up to you).
- Get its ID (the number at the end of its URL while you're in the page editor), open the Pages widget, write that number in "Exclude".
- Create a new blank page, and paste this in its title box:
Home
(You'll also need to assign it the order number you had originally assigned to the renamed page.)

I would like to use a page as 'home' for my site and have this easily identified in the page widget contents in the sidebar.
BUT is there any way to keep the widget page listed as 'home' in the sidebar and delete/change the 'home' header in the actual content?

Those instructions are a mistake: they are for wp.ORG members, not for us.

If you want child pages in Ambiru, the only thing you can do is write links to them in the parent pages.

I've tried making child pages but apparently I need a 'page widget' but my theme Ambiru doesn't have it. when i try to it says:
"The theme you are currently using isn’t widget-aware, meaning that it has no sidebars that you are able to change. For information on making your theme widget-aware, please follow these instructions."
The 'simple' instructions are far too complicated for my little brain. I have no clue how to make the child pages show up on the parent pages.
PLEASE HELP!!

Hi,

I have a small problem. I have included the page widget on the right sidebar, and left the title field blank. However, it keeps on displaying the title "Pages" after saving. I have deleted cookies, did the caching thing. Any sugestions to solve this would be very welcome. NB other widgets such as the text widget of which I also have left the title field blank don't have this problem.

Try clearing your browser cache and then force reload the page and see if they change colors. The a:visited is set to color #000000. That means once it is visited, it doesn't change colors.

Thank you. I have gotten the background on the widget fixed now I just need to find out why the links in the pages widget don't always change to green when you hover. It appears that only about 2/3rds of them are working correctly while viewing in IE7.

To remove the background from the widgets change "background" to none as shown in the following:
