OK I get that you don't like the standard YouTube embed process, so you use the long-form URL and "handle it yourself." Whatever.

However, one of the choices I have when I select the URL on youtube is to say "start after" and a number of seconds.

This doesn't seem to be supported ... The youtube parameter is &t=xx where xx is the number of seconds to skip.

So are you just passing the the & commands to youtube, and are they working?

Hello,

ISSUE

A Flash movie in a layer on a DHTML page containing several layers may display above all the layers, regardless of the stacking order ("z-index") of those layers. This is the case with the VideoPress player in Internet Explorer 8.

REASON

By default, browsers place embedded plug-in content, such as a Flash movie or Java applet, on the topmost layer. In older browsers, attempts to place a DHTML layer on top of a Flash layer would fail. Newer browsers add the ability to layer Flash content with DHTML content and in some cases the ability to use transparent backgrounds in the Flash content (see below).

SOLUTION

Use the WMODE parameter to allow layering of Flash content with DHTML layers. The WMODE parameter can be 'window' (default), 'opaque', or 'transparent'. Using a WMODE value of 'opaque' or 'transparent' will prevent a Flash movie from playing in the topmost layer and allow you to adjust the layering of the movie within other layers of the HTML document.

QUESTION

How can this be done? Since we use short codes to embed the player in pages, how can we avoid the video overlapping drop down menus?

Thanks,
CG

If you write long posts, consider using the "read more" tag and then you can increase the number of posts shown on each page to say 10. Perhaps give two or three paragraphs before the read more tag.

i kinda figured that out since i've been tweaking with the settings a bit...
but i was really hoping for a separate control for the other widgets...
since frankly i'm contented with my blog showing 5 posts (coz they;re pretty much long winded).. and all i really wanted was the search results to show at least 10-15...

anyway thanks... haha

im still hoping for this idea to be considered btw.. haha..
SEARCH RESULTS>>> ahahahaha

That is because you have your blog set to show 5 posts per page at settings > reading. That setting controls the number of posts on tags pages, categories pages, blog pages, archives pages as well as search results.

Hi guys...
i'm not sure if guys have noticed but...
when clicking a CATEGORY in the category widget... an ARCHIVE... or when using the Search Widget...

ONLY 5 RESULTS SHOW UP...

my suggestion is that you could have an editable parameter as to HOW MANY RESULTS YOU WANT TO SHOW per search (for all widgets that display results)...

(to give you better picture... go to my blog [ http://themorningview.wordpress.com ] and either 1. Click a CATEGORY... 2. Select an ARCHIVE... 3. Use the Search Widget... you will again notice that ONLY 5 RESULTS WOULD SHOW UP and the other results can be seen by CLICKING the "Previous Entries" link)

for a READER... it would seem pretty troublesome to navigate via the "Previous Entries" link..
and with regards to the layout i'm using... it would seem that there's a lot of wasted SPACE that could have been allocated for displaying search results...

i hope the wp team looks into this..

and keep up the good work btw.. hahaha

I've looked through the posts related to videos and didn't see this question asked or answered. We produce weekly videos specifically to be posted on our WP blog. Currently, we're uploading 640X480 30fps WMV files. Is there a format that would yield better video quality, maybe AVI? A bigger or smaller format, different frame rate, etc. We're looking for the optimum video quality, size isn't an issue.

Any suggestions about what the WP video player likes best?
Thanks!
