Some have claimed I'm allowing the general public to view my protected posts via "Share this" links placed on social sites. The claim is that a password is not needed for viewing the posts via link. Probably the claimants' browser options are set to "remember passwords"; claimants possess the password, had previously logged in, then claim that they are able to magically follow links on social sites to my posts.
I just want to make absolutely certain that it's them, and not anything on my end; is there any way to access a protected post, without possessing the proper password?

It would also be a useful tool for sharing files with other organisations in our funding stream using the password protection that is implemented in the plugin.

Hi,

Followed your advice and found - somewhat disappointing - the answer to the same question from other WP users:
< blockquote >No there is not a way to get rid of "protected." That is done by the WordPress core software and is not something that can be hidden via CSS.
The good question is why WP put "protected" in the title. We do not need the information in the header, since the following text clearly explains the readers about the requirement for password.

Your answer to the second question of protecting an entire Category of pages with password, is so far ok. However, for graphical reasons we would prefer the password placed in the category, rather than - as now - risking 10, maybe 20 equal password fields in a row that refers to each post.

We will be pleased if you good WP-people would consider the simple solution of placing a password in the category.

Thank you.

Hi there,

You may be able to change the word "Protected" with the use of CSS code in your Custom Design add on.

You can get help on what specific CSS code you should use by checking out the CSS Customization forum right here:

http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

You can browse around and see if anyone has already asked that question, and if not you can ask yourself!

In regards to protecting the entire category of entries, as long as you protect each entry with the same password, when someone enters that password, any entry which uses that password will be unlocked, so they will only have to enter it once. Was that the behavior you were hoping for?

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Try changing it at http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/ first.

If that doesn't work, try Users -> Personal Settings in your blog's Dashboard.

Note: Issues Changing your E-mail Address > http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/#issues-changing-your-e-mail-address

You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered any blog to access it. If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
