I don't think they are pingbacks. I have filtered out all of them in the comments management page and even there those two "ghost" comments/whatever-they-are do not appear. In addition, pingbacks from external sites on the linked posts date back to 2012 (I enabled pingbacks since I started the blog), while the "ghost" comments (let's name them this way...) appeared recently. What is weirder is that their date is updating! In the image I posted on 19th april the comment had that date. If I look now, the same comment is dated 22th april, today!
I am quite sure, although I can't remember exactly, those were comments that managed to get past Akismet into the "pending" queue, so I had to trash them manually.
Anyway, they are not giving me any trouble with the blog; they are just a couple of dead items in recent comments list and I'd like to understand
1) if and how I can get rid of them, since the usual links to manage comments (Trash / Approve/Unapprove/ etc.) do not appear on these specific items.
2) if they are pingbacks, what website they come from (I am concerned about spam/malicious sites)
3) why I have no other evidence of them anywhere else than in the upper notification "balloon".

Thanks for support

I have a couple of pending comments but no way to perform actions on them (approve/trash/spam). Actually these "ghost" comments only show in the notification area (upper bar); on comments management page none of these are listed among pending / spam ones.
I wonder if there's actually a comment awaiting review or this is just a mistake of notifications.
If so, any way to get rid of the items?

I entered their emails into the subcription box, yet none of them recieved a confirmation email. While I understand that to avoid spam, pending subcription emails will not appear, but is there a place in my dashboard where I can see the number of subscriptions pending (i.e., the number of emails received and confirmations sent)?

I am trying to understand who and how is putting spam tweets from my twitter account

Recently, I added my blog as website to my Disqus account
and, after looking in its configauration once more. I see that comments can be put without moderation
I also gave access to twitter - I had to while commenting some other blogs
(and I do not understand why both read and WRITE access without any choice was given?)

Though there are NO strange comments (except my own) I can see in my Disqus accounts.

Anyway, I'd like to understand:

the spam tweets are all abt "weight loss".

Can I Search all my comments - approved, spam, pending, trashed - for a keyword? How?

Who is catching spam comments first in this case - Disqus or built-in WP.com Akismet?

Suppose, Disqus caught spam, it would not appear in admin panel of blog?

Suppose Disqus has put comment without moderation/approval, would it pass through in-built Akismet?

Will I see comments in my WP.com blog admin panel or I should search them in the blog?
