I had some hacker issues with my wordpress site, http://www.noeyedeer.co.za
so i did a fresh install imported the DB, but i did change the directory of my installation from root to /nowp/ i moved the index file and changed the link to wp-blog-header so in general it is working.

my issue now is on all the links it goes to "http://noeyedeer.co.zahttp//noeyedeer.co.za/..../..." etc if i click the back button in goes to the correct link "http://noeyedeer.co.za/..../..." (notice the http//, missin colon and extra noeyedeer.co.za)

i have looked at the .htaccess file and all looks good, i have tried updating permalinks and still the same result?

has anyone got any idea what could be wrong?

PS: images arent working as I havent uploaded all of the again since the reinstall

I have recently sorted out the Permalinks on our company site - there is one though which I can't change to what I want it to be.

Before I did this whilst building the site I ended up with two pages created both called Downloads - I put content into the second one and this is the one thats live, I just deleted the first one as not needed.

Now I have put permalinks in, it has put that page as /downloads-2 , I guess default as it was second one made. If I try and change to just /downloads it won't accept it, a though that name already exists. (please note I can change to other words but I would like that one)

Is there any way I can solve this, because I don't have the first page created but assume this has had /downloads assigned to it.

Does this make sense - hope someone can help me...many thanks in advance.

I updated my wordpress from version 3.0 to 3.4.1. Immediately I noticed some troubles with permalinks related to categories pages, which return a 404 error. I temporarily solved with WCS-Permalinks plugin that catch 404 and return a page with a url like this: sitename/?cat=x.

So I used function add_rewrite_rule() to add a pretty url into htaccess to solve the problem. I used this code:

add_rewrite_rule('^shortcut/$','/?cat=2000/','top');

with a flush the rule appears into htaccess with [QSA,L] but it seems not work. I always had a 404.

any ideas?
