Yes, that is the blog site I have been unable to post pictures to. I tried again, using an old draft that had successfully been posted on my old blog page using the 12/2011 version of wlw, but nothing has changed. It tells me that this blog site doesn't support picture publishing. And I was also still unable to download the blog theme. I guess I should be encouraged that you were able to do it, but I still don't understand why I can't. Thanks for looking into it; is there any other information I can provide that would help resolve the problem?

Hi rbbader,

I was able to create a post on a test site using the same theme as you have (book-lite), and using a fresh installation of WLW 2012. Just to be certain, you are trying to post to your http://badertestblog.wordpress.com/ site, or to another one? If to another one, can you give me the link to it? Would you also mind trying again? Some of the few reports I have seen of this issue say that it fixes itself sometimes.

Let me know if it works out for you. Thanks!

This is the notice I get when trying to post a posting including photos from windows live writer 2012. I don't have this problem with the older version of windows live writer I installed in December of 2011. Is there any way to overcome this, other than using the FTP option? I will be on a cruise ship where interenet time is expensive, so I don't want to have to post the pictures elsewhere & then link to them. I have tried using different themes (now using book lite), but it doesn't help, & wlw also now fails to download my theme (which it did fine last year).

One of my photos (front cover of a book) on website and some blogs keeps disappearing. Been going on for 1-2 weeks now. When I delete & re-insert photo, the next day it is gone again. Began at same time someone became user as a subscriber, which I since deleted. But still happening. Is there a virus involved? If so, how do I get rid of it? It happened to another photo, but I re-inserted & that one still ok. Other photos have not been affected yet. Same photo is still ok on some other pages of website & some blogs. But gone in 1st page & these blogs: psychological thrillers, writing novels, alcoholism, brain surgery. John

I've been having a bit of trouble with my blog. I have inserted a number of photographs into my posts, but either none of the photographs show up or just one does.

If you were to look at my blog you would think I haven't added any images, but I have. When I go to edit them they show up in the admin panel.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

I've done the usual image manipulation and resized, sharpened etc., in a tailor-made way to match the optimal size for my particular WordPress layout and template.

Using the advanced tools for individual images still doesn't end up with the image being rendered crisply, either at full size, or in reduced size.

A blog I write for uses the Publicize feature to post links to Facebook. Facebook's new Timeline layout adds a new type of page element, Milestone, that is more visually appealing than the older Links function that Publicize uses. (Specifically, Milestones allow photos to appear much larger than the thumbnails generated by the Links feature.)

Does WordPress plan to rewrite the Publicize function to create Milestones instead of Links? We would like Publicize to send, at the very least, some text from an article (like the headline), a shortlink, plus a photograph used in the post.

Facebook's API includes a new set of calls that allow creation of Milestones. What isn't clear is whether it's programmatically possible to add an image to a Milestone as well as text.

Oh sorry! The post I linked to doesn't mean display a huge image like you're doing now, it means: if you want to display a downsized image, downsize it yourself (using an image editing application) before uploading it instead of letting WP do the downsizing. But that would account for a very small improvement in quality. The issue you've got is different. It's due to a very strange (in my opinion, very bad) idea in the theme you're using: its CSS includes a filter that creates a semi-transparent veil in front of everything.

There's nothing you can do about it, except if you buy the Custom Design upgrade. Two suggestions:
1) Post in the Themes forum and complain about this. The WP theme team monitor that forum, they'll see your thread and maybe do something about the issue.
2) Switch to a better theme.

Thank you for that link. I am trying to understand exactly what this means, and thought that I just resized correctly, but the new image that I replaced the old one with is just as washed out as before. Of the course the linked picture is perfect.

Not to sure what I'm doing wrong... :(
