@marianojmiguel, a quick tip, you can add "?minify=false" to the end of WordPress.com stylesheet links to give them pretty formatting. If you don't add that, then the CSS is concatenated and a bit hard to review. Here is an example:

The reason is that many beginner users were copying and pasting the entire stylesheet into the editor, which ended up causing them a lot of problems if they didn't know very much about how CSS works.

The CSS is still accessible in a number of ways, including in a link on the Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page in the "Mode: Add-on" section. You can find it by clicking "Edit" next to "Mode: Add-on" in the Publish box.

However, it's often better (and easier) to find CSS using built in browser tools. Most modern browsers have a web inspector that you can access by right-clicking an element and selecting the "Inspect Element" option. In Chrome, it will show you the HTML for what you clicked on as well as all of the CSS that applies to it, including the order of the rules that apply and which ones are overridden by other rules. I help people with CSS all the time, and I find the browser tools indispensable.

This is going to sound really stupid, but, I used to be able to view the original style sheet that came with my theme, (Pilcrow). That seems to be gone now! ???? How can I find this again? Thanks.

Thanks for trying, houstonweaver. :-) I did try the first code before, without any luck. Same thing now. Will try out your second suggestions too. Perhaps I could make the titles shorter and font size smaller. Hmmm Appreciate your time, in any case.

I find this instruction on the forums from staff for centering the menu in pilcrow , but I don't think it works on a multiline menu.

#nav {
  text-align: center;
}

.menu {
  display: inline-block;
  margin: 0 auto;
}

You might consider steps to make your menu fit more easily on one line, while understanding that a responsive theme like pilcrow might go to 2 lines depending on the size of the window that the user has. Some steps would be to possibly shorten some of your menu item titles and/or creation of drop down menus under broader headings, changing the spacing between letters on your menu items, changing the padding between items. A combination of these might achieve your one line menu.

This changes some of those things and results in a "tighter" menu, but not near one line and not centered. Of course, as usual, you can play with the settings if you want to try this.

	letter-spacing: 0.1em;
	padding: 0 7px;
	text-decoration: none;
}

All this being said, maybe one of the experts will pass by and solve all!

Hello; I have recently purchased the CSS upgrade, and, with no prior knowledge of the subject, managed to change mostly everything I wanted to, except for two items. Have been researching and trying every solution possible, but to no avail. Hope you can help. Am using a custom menu, horizontal pages widget at the top, in the Pilcrow theme.

It has four lines and I would like each line to be centered. Currently they are all aligned to the left. (The only centering option I found was for each individual page, in a vertical configuration and that's NOT what I wanted.)
Second thing is the "Follow by email widget". Managed to center all except the lines "Join followers" and "Follow". Please advise how to fix this as well.

The no-sidebar template is an option for static pages. The main posts page is a dynamic page. When you set a static page as your posts page in Settings > Reading, you no longer see that static page: you just borrow its title, so to speak, to create the link to your posts page.

I am working on http://aliciadean.wordpress.com site

It is built using Pilcrow theme.

I am having a little trouble with the blog page. I have reset the template under page attributes to one column, no sidebar. When I preview, that's what there. However, as soon as blog posts are posted, the sidebar is back. Remove the posts and the sidebar goes away.

I'm stumped. Suggestions for how to fix this?

A "whois" lookup reveals that http://www.meredithbaldwin.com/ is hosted at dreamhost, which makes it a self-hosted wordpress installation.

You need to create a username and get a password over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where the self-hosted version of wordpress is supported. They can help you there because they are familiar with the software you are using. We here at wordpress.COM, are not.

To use the WordPress.org forum, you need to create a username first. Whatever username you have at WordPress.com or with your hosting provider will not work. Thank you and good luck.

I've tried to login to wordpress.org and it tells me I don't exist as a member. So I am pretty sure that I am working with wordpress.com. It's the only site of the two that will let me log in and access my portfolio.

I can assure you that is NOT a WordPress.com blog. Otherwise, I'd see a grey admin bar when navigating through it right now. (Among other things).

That message is probably caused by some error with your PHP code, but since we cannot handle PHP code ourselves at WordPress.com, we are not in a position to help. So please understand that you REALLY need to go to the correct forums at http://wordpress.org/support/ for assistance.

I use wordpress.com for both of these. However, after purchasing my domain - I am only using http://www.meredithbaldwin.com.

Regardless - can anyone help me remove this message? I don't know what has happened and why I can't get it to disappear off of my webpage. Everything was working fine this morning.
