Staff typically do not make changes to the appearance of themes once they introduce them as those using them can get really, really cranky when that happens. The single post page titles are set to bold in the CSS, and you can add this to your existing CSS to take it back to normal.

.single-post .entry-title {
font-weight: normal;
}

The Custom Design page in the dashboard has a CSS entry in the left black column, and if you hover over that and click on it a CSS edit window will appear. Paste the above into that window and you can then look at the preview of your site on the left and if this works for you, save your changes.

I use the Pinboard theme with Custom Design (and Typekit), and I've noticed over the past two or three days that the titles for my posts now appear in an extremely chunky font when viewed in preview or as individual posts. (On the home page of the site, the post titles look normal, and as they should look.) Could you please look at my site and figure out if this is something peculiar to my site, or is this happening to everyone using Pinboard? I don't think I changed anything, and now that you have changed the Custom Design interface I can't figure out how to view my CSS.
Thank you,

Sorry this happened to you! It's really hard to say what exactly went on, but based on the screenshots you provided, it almost seems like you switched themes and applied an update to custom CSS that was intended for the Pinboard theme at the same time. Anyway, we can't really tell now that you've removed the theme and the customizations from before, but as long as you have the right backup CSS then I think you should be able to get back to the previous state pretty easily! I'm happy to help you with this once you're ready to give it another try.

Thanks for your replies. The post from @justpi, while most likely is quite useful in other situations, actually isn't relevant to my problem. He didn't read my post or just didn't understand what I wrote. I experienced the problem long before I pasted in any backup copy of the css (that was merely a last ditch effort to try to fix the already "messed up" situation). My problem occurred simply after pasting in the change (and saving) which I obtained from the premium forum and it was not corrected after I then deleted that added css code and saved again. Only then did I try pasting in my backed up css code (and saving), which, of course, didn't work either.

But I think the problem existed prior to me doing any css work, because when I first accessed the upgrade, I was seeing the preview iteration in the same corrupted form as I eventually achieved.

But, irrespective of any of those situations, I have been refunded fully and in a few days I plan to go through the process again with a newly purchased Pinboard theme and the Customization upgrade. Maybe just a relaunch will give me a version without those same problems.

Did you have the "start from scratch" selection activated? If so, then that would be what caused the problems.

At WordPress.com, it is always best to keep the "add to existing…" selection checked and then add only the specific rules and only the specific declarations you are adding or changing to the CSS. Then your CSS will override the current like bits in the original theme CSS.

Read the post that @justpi referenced. I'm confident that the problem you experienced was simple to fix. Things at WordPress.com work a little differently when it comes to CSS editing.

@thesacredpath Thanks for your response. Before making any css change, I copied the entire css text and pasted it into a software program called, Ultra-edit, so I would have a control backup. Then I made the change on the wordpress.com online editing tool and clicked the Save button. Upon seeing the totally ruined layout, I first removed the change and saved again (same result). Then I copied my backup css from Ultra-edit into the online tool and saved (same "destroyed blog" result). I still have my saved backup copy of the css in Ultra-edit and will provide it, if it would be of any value for perusal at this time.

Upon retrospect, I recall that the "messed up" version was showing as the automatic preview on the online tool prior to any changes in css. The reason I hadn't thought to question any css changes to be able to work was because I had first made some changes in font (with menu selections), saved, and found that those variations had been effected without difficulty.

I will later today repurchase both the premium Pinboard theme and the Upgrade and retest (I like the theme and would love to be able to have it to function properly). I will post results again here.

@samredman, I was out of town, and not having access to premium themes, I've never worked with Pinboard, and since you have canceled your Custom Design and the theme, I can't say what went wrong.

I can see several things in the CSS you listed above that could blow up the Pinboard design though, such as changing from display: inline-block; to display: block; and also setting a width other than 100%. Not knowing what exactly you were trying to accomplish, I can't tell you what to do exactly, and the point is moot since you have canceled everything.

Hi,

I would like to remove the author link and the profile photo that appears both on home page and individual posts for Pinboard theme.

tried the following code

.entry-author-link,
.entry-permalink,
.entry-date,
.entry-meta {
	display: none;
}

but the profile pic remains on homepage. Also the author link and the profile pic shows up in the individual post.

I am a novice here so help would be appreciated.
