Hello. My website can be found at http://www.robo13.net and I can't seem to get my YouTube videos to play on my mobile devices (ipad and iPhone).

I can however play other people's YouTube videos from their WordPress websites. So this is why I don't know what is wrong. The videos work fine on my computer but when I test the site on my ipad and iPhone the video will just have the spinning buffering symbol and never play the video.

Please help.

I went to the blog and saw one video thumbnail of a man in a blue hoodie, same image as larger above it. I clicked on the thumbnail since it had a motion picture camera logo. That took me to the page:

http://fieldsutton.wordpress.com/2012/04/21/my-reporting-reel/

which showed what looks like a live reporter for channel 19. There's a play logo on that one, so I click on that. It now shows two images, both darkened. There is a tiny play button on a small timescale at the bottom of the 2nd image. Clicking on the play button changes it to a pause button (switches button icon) but nothing more. No motion, no sound.

Then I right click on the image, and Firefox does at least recognize there is supposed to be a video here because it gives me video action options. So I choose "View video". It then goes to this URL:

http://videos.videopress.com/FrbQFxfy/reporting-tape_fmt1.ogv

which gives me a "WordPress 404 - File not found." message. There might be an issue with standard def file conversions in the video automated workflow?

One thing for me, though, is I see NO "HD" button at all on any of the steps.

I am running an older Firefox on Ubuntu Linux. It should work OK, though, at least for the files in .ogv (Ogg video container) because that has worked in Firefox since several versions before the one I'm using now (an older machine I have is running Firefox 2.0 which has played this video time for me).

Well, I've been playing around some more with it and if I click the "HD" button (i.e. turn HD on) while it's sitting there on the black background, it starts playing perfectly. If I click the HD button again (turn HD off) while it's playing, it stops and goes back to the black background.

I just started up my blog on WordPress and I'm trying to use VideoPress to host my videos. I've got one up now, and it plays fine at home on an iMac with Snow Leopard and Safari/Firefox. Plays fine anywhere on my iPhone. But at work on Windows XP and Windows 7 with IE 8 and 9, and at my parents' house on an iMac with Leopard and Safari, once you click through the thumbnail image, it just stays on a black background with the spinning "load indicator."

Here at work, sample VideoPress videos work fine on the same computers, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the files I'm uploading. But I could be totally off on that.

I used HandBrake with the Default profile to create a 720p .mp4 file from an uncompressed file coming out of Final Cut Express.

I put my own video into blog posts with regularity and wish there were options for the "play" arrow. The default, and only, is a white arrow with no background. Many times the white arrow is lost in whatever the screen image is. I'd like to be able to choose different color arrows, as well as those with a different background circle around it.

Here's a perfect example from my blog. The video half-way down is almost unknown as video and the white arrow mostly lost, hence I usually write above it, "click to play video".

http://earthoceanskyredux.com/2012/03/15/lucky-for-us-it-was-siesta-time/

Also, while I have your attention, I really dislike how large the font is on the title of the video. it almost overtakes the video clip. Please give us more choices.

Thanks.

Hi,
I'm trying to get my music to play in my blog and although I've already followed proper instructions, but still had no luck in this. The music tab did come up but when I click on the play button, it keeps on prompting "buffering" and would never play. I wonder if it is because of the music hosting site that I use or it's because of some other reasons. I've tried searching the forums and the website but no body had the same problem as I have. Frustrated.... Please help!!!

(I use mediafire.com as my free music hosting site and here is what I put in my code as I copied the link straight from the hosting site and then followed the instruction with the "[audio http://%5D

Yes -- it's advertising. WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

Hoping some of you out there can help with this as Support Team are 'off air' until 29th October...
While checking on 2 earlier posts on my blog I was surprised and worried to find 2 large bright green buttons with 'Play' and 'Download' on them at the end of each post.
When I clicked on one button to check it, it took me to a site with a countdown to 'download' or play video.
I've just checked back and the buttons have now disappeared... and no I've not imagined it!
Has anyone else had this experience or any idea how it's happened? I use a MacBook and am not usually bothered with viruses etc.
thanks

This blog is to help parents and caregivers plan fun activities which promote developmentally appropriate growth and learning while spending time with parents. Many families express concern that their children will fall behind during the summer, when school is not in session, and I often find myself explaining that their children are always learning. These are activities that will show parents how easy it is to promote developmental growth daily!

I won't tell you that this blog has everything you'd ever want to know about games. I also won't tell you that this blog will keep you up to date on all your gaming needs. I certainly won't tell you what, if anything, tacos have to do with gaming. What I will tell you is that my blog will do its best to give you a decent dose of news and reviews involving flash, indie, and free to play games. So, by all means, stop by and have a look.

It's not just Flash or Java. WordPress.com severely restricts what you can put in your blog for security reasons. Normally, they don't support newish things at all.

There is no way I know of to have autoplay music in a WP.com blog, and most of your readers will thank you for it. More than 50% of internet surfers are either playing music already or do not have speakers hooked up and turned on.

You CAN pay, if you qualify for the VIP program: I think you need half a million hits a month and $600 per month. Then you can have anything you want.

Howdy, there. Alrighty-- I've searched for hours about finding code that will work with WordPress.com blogs to play a music file automatically as the page loads. I've searched the Support forums here and the knowledge base, and I'm led to understand that anything with Flash or Javascript is disabled due to security issues, which I can respect (I just don't like it :P). Now, there's a new order of things coming about-- HTML5-- and though some browsers don't support it yet, many of the new ones do and will. HTML5 has varied features-- including an
<audio>
tag-- that will make things on the web much richer, faster, and easier. I tried implementing this new audio tag into an HTML sidebar widget, but the code was disabled. This has nothing to do with Flash or Java-- is there any reason why I can't use this code? It is, after all, plain HTML. Will I be able to use it soon? Please?!

Also, I don't suppose there's any way I could pay WordPress.com to let me use an automatic music player? I think not, but I thought I'd ask.

One last thing-- there's no such thing as a plain HTML player anywhere out there, I presume? It doesn't sound possible, but then you never know.
