Thank folks, I just had a little chat with my partners granddaughter. Apparently last night she went nuts with Facebook apps on my Facebook account. When I shutdown some crap game named "Pengle" everything went back to normal. *sigh* This is why I'm glad I can't have kids, at least my puppies can't use my toys.

Do you perhaps use any browser add-ons/extensions? if so, please disable these and see if that resolves the issue.

When I checked on my latest post this morning I discovered that the four words have links attached to them, which bring up in window pop-up ads. I definitely did not permit this, and was under the impression that these kind of things were not a part of wordpress.com.

I'm wondering if someone broke into my account and added some code to something or other. Can someone please help?

(I'd like to add that this is literally the first problem of any kind I've had with WordPress, and I've absolutely adored my time here. Keep up the good work folks.)

WordPress.com does not place pop-up ads on any sites. Please refer to the resources timethief posted above to try to remove the malware you likely have inadvertently installed in your browser.

WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. If you are seeing those then that’s a browser-ad-on issue, or in some cases, it’s embedded into free games downloaded from the internet. As well, confirm that these are not from a browser add-on. Lots of them sneak ads into your browser. Disable add-ons, then enable them one by one to see if the ads return.

Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that's how many hackers gain access to blogs

1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.

2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/

3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/

4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:

5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.

Ditto. The GAMENUTT.COM ads take up approximately 20% of the screen. I thought users who were logged in were not subject to ads. It's distracting and is slowing down my processing speed. I'm also getting pop-up ads along the bottom of my Reader.

This morning, I am getting intrusive and obnoxious pop-up ads on my dashboard and right now on this page as well. It's from GAMENUTT.COM. They have caused my drafting/editing to slow down. I thought ads would only show up if I wasn't logged in?

I clicked on the link you sent about the text enhance thing and followed their advice to put that site on my restricted list. I figured out how to disable all add ons and stuff in firefox. It seems to finally have worked. I cleared history caches and cookies like four times and rebooted the computer each time. I'm hoping this works. thanks for your help.

I tried clearing the browser history cache and cookies, I have no idea how to disable browser extensions and add ons I dont even know what they are or how this happened. so I am quite upset that I cant seem to get rid of this.

WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. So far everyone who has reported this has had a browser-add-on or browser extension that causes it. In some cases it was embedded into free games they downloaded from the internet.

Please try logging out, clearing your browser cache and cookies, disabling all browser add-ons and extensions, clearing your browser cache and cookies, and then rebooting and logging in again. View your blog and tell us if you still see advertising or not.

There are a number of other threads on the board about this. All have been a result of something on the user's computer or browser.

This is not WordPress as they do not do that. It's possibly from your own computer via an add-on that you have installed. You will need to disable each one individually until you find the culprit, and then remove it.

Hi this morning I noticed that when I publish my posts some of my words are double lined (linked) to advertisements. These are not ad displays but rather links to advertisements. I am not happy about this in the least, since I am not the one doing it and I feel that it interferes with the content and message of my posts. Can you tell me what I need to do to remove this extremely annoying feature? thank you Donna Erickson
