Ok. Thanks! It's good that I got a clear answer, even it's negative. I don't use my blog that much as years ago when I was still a student, so I won't buy a space and set up a self-hosted blog there. It's a pity that I can't change the structure of the permalink, but I think I'll just take it and change the link by hand myself.

Thanks again!

I'm sorry, it's not possible to change the structure of the permalink on WordPress.com.

There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested.

Thanks for the help, but sorry it's not what I mean.

I know the individual permalinks of articles could be changed, but I've imported more than 200 articles from my old blog, and all the permalinks were set as default. It's too tiring to change the permalink one by one, so what I was asking is is it possible to reset the permalink by using CSS and to make it like "%year%/%month%/%day%/%postid%".

Anyone can help on it? I've been trapped in it for months. A million thanks, really!

I'm using a free blog on wordpress.com. The default setting of the permalink of articles is just adding the title of the article to the link, which make it not only quite long, but also quite hard to use (I write in Chinese in most of my articles, so the titles are in Chinese, too, and the Chinese in the permalink would be terrible long strange symbols if you copy and paste).

WordPress is a good and friendly system, so I decide to keep my blog here, but the hardship on the permalink is a nightmare to me. I've tried hard to find solutions, but I still can't get any satisfying answers. I need to know whether it's possible to set the permalink by using CSS if I'm writing on my blog on wordpress.com for free, or I have to spend some money to upgrade to do it.

Please share with me the solutions if there is. Thanks!

Yes, I know that one should have short titles, but honest how many of us always create a blog title that's only 5 words or less all the time?

Such an option would keep the Recent Comments Widget list of referenced blog titles, shorter and less cluttered looking.

Hello... I am considering using wordpress to rebuild a website I already have. I have some questions that I could not find under the topics provided.

I want to set up the site using the URL that is a FREE URL (ex: mywebsite.wordpress.com) and create the categories and pages as well as add the images and content for static pages before I publish to the URL I already have a site built on. If I do this will the slugs that I create for the categories and pages automatically convert to a slug that is custom to the the URL I own (ex: mywebsite.wordpress.com/special-page.html converts to mywebsite.com/special-page.html)?
I ask because I do not want to take down the site that is currently at "mywebsite.com" while it takes me a few days to in put the information into my wordpress account.
I found the information for an existing domain and how the wordpress pages will redirect but I want to know if there are other options (other than converting the pages myself after they are created).

I've noticed that, even after I change the title of a post, the permalink remains worded exactly the same. (I.e., the final "extension" -- if that's what it's called -- remains the same as before. I changed the Title of a post from "Type Cast iv" to "Type Cast", but the permalink still ends in "type-cast-iv". This can be confusing or misleading to those seeing or receiving that link; it is also confusing me as to the actual whereabouts of each post. Stranger still, after creating the post "Type Cast", WordPress generated a permalink for it that ended with "first-report-card", which are words appearing within one image that's far down in the post.)

Is there a way to edit/alter/correct that part of a permalink?
