Hey Guys,

I'm trying to limit the amount of posts per page on my website. Currently when you type something in the search bar it lists every post from the beginning of time. I'd like it to be 10. Here's how my code reads:

<?php if (have_posts()) : ?>

Results for '<?php the_search_query(); ?>'

<?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/_/inc/post/nav.php' ); ?>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
<article <?php post_class() ?> id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">

"><?php the_title(); ?>

<?php the_excerpt(); ?>

<?php endwhile; ?>
<?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/_/inc/post/nav.php' ); ?>

Do you have any reccommendations on what I need to add in order to achieve this?

I limited my blog posts to 8 per page, but all of a sudden all of my 20+ posts appear on the same, very long, page. 'Help' tells me to adjust the number of posts from the Reading Settings page of my dashboard. But the Blog Posts per Page setting has disappeared completely from that page, and I can't find it on any other settings page. Without it I can't limit the number of posts shown on one page, and my page justs gets longer and longer. Does anybody know how I can fix this, please?

Your WordPress.com usename is linked to a blogspot blog and that's not helpful at all. Please remove that link and link your WordPress.com blog to your username so we can click and access it instantly. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Once you have done that and I can see the theme you are using and determine whether or not it has infinite scroll I can help you with this.

Hi, I was wondering how to limit the number of posts per page.

I read from previous forum that all I have to do is click on Setting > click on Reading > Blog pages show at most _____ posts (fill the box with a number, let's say five).

But I did the same thing over and over again and I never seen any 'Blog pages show at most _____ posts'. I only saw this 'Syndication feeds show the most recent'. I'm not sure if it's the same thing but when I changed the number in the box, nothing's changed and it's a pain to scroll down to read everything.

Does it have to do with the theme I chose or not?

Help!

@vivra
This isn't a matter of debate. Clarity is required if one is gouing to change the conventional structure or a blog from being post based to becoming page based. Staff have provided this support documentation entry. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

There is only one dynamic page in a blog and we cannot post to more that one page. What’s critical is to understand when creating a website structure the following:

1. The differences between pages and posts and the impact of choosing to restruture a blog to become page based.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/05/12/better-blogging-at-wordpress-com-pages-and-posts/

2. We organize our posts by use of categories and how to set up custom menus. Although we cannot post to more than one page in a blog we can create the appearance that we have done that by setting up a custom menu and displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation menu. That feature is available for some themes but not for all themes.
Please read http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/

It would be great if we could post in whatever page we wish...
For example:
I could post about recipes in the "kitchen page", them about politics in other page or about news on a third page...
I know we can do something like that by publishing a page, but we still can't publish posts on several pages of the same blog...

I hope I made myself understood,
anyway...
Thank you, you guys are doing a great job!

Hello, I would really like to update the appearance of my blog and have only 5 posts per page. I thought I found the way to do this, but for some reason, I still have all 10 posts on one page. When I write my 11th, I don't know if a new page will start or if it'll continue on the same page. I just want a cleaner look, and the few readers I have complained that they hate to scroll so much. Can anyone help me figure out how to have only 5 posts per page?

Also, I added a contact page, but can't seem to make my email address clickable. Thoughts on this as well?

Thanks in advance!
