Yes. It's easy to set a primary blog. You can only link a single username to a single blog. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

Thanks so much. I'm thinking it may not be too late if I can shut down my 2nd blog (which I haven't done anything with other than create and name) and create a new one using a different username. I have not done the mapping yet.

It's already too late, if you want to be particular. Becuase you created both from the same username and probably posted to both from it. To keep it clean, you'd want two completely separate logins, from separate usernames.

But it doesn't sound like you're talking about privacy concerns. One blog is designated Primary so when you leave comments, like here, your username links to it. That's all. It doesn't make a difference to your readers. If they have the URL of the blog they want, they can go there.

I'm getting ready to map the domain name for a 2nd wordpress blog, but don't want these blogs to be connected in any way. When someone types in the url for blog 1, I want them to be connected to blog 1. Ditto for blog 2. I thought this would happen automatically, but now I'm not sure because it seems I have to designate one blog as a primary blog. Can anyone explain to me how this works?

Hello,

I recently added a new blog to my profile and deleted the one which I had first made. When I comment on other people's blogs and click my username it took me to my old blog. I deleted the blog and set my new one as the primary, however when I click on my user name it takes me to the old site saying "blog was deleted." Is there a way to set my new blog up so when someone clicks on my name it comes up? I already set the new one as my primary and did the updated web address as well. help

Looking at my page, I just noticed that on the posts it is still displaying the date and other information in the sidebar area. I'd like that gone as well.

I don't want a sidebar at all, on any of my pages. I deleted all the widgets that automatically populated in the Primary Sidebar (e.g. archive, categories, etc.) but want to know how I can get rid of the space for the primary sidebar and just have my content use that space and be centered.

I do have the CSS custom design if that helps.

I have the same proble, i need to import the content from two different blogs, one is lascatoladipandora.wordpress.com, and other is a self hosted wordpress blogs. Now i need to move all content in one blog, but many record will have the same ID and a simple import do not work properly.

It sounds like you are proposing to deliberately create duplicate content across domains and that's not a wise thing to do. Google is aimed at providing relevant search results to those using their search utility and that means not wasting user time by providing duplicate content in the search engine page results. You can export and import content between WordPress.com blogs.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/ Export files are copies of content so once they have been successfully imported you can delete them at the source.

I have a primary and a secondary blogs. How can the contents of the two blogs be brought together under a new blog?
Do I need a new username for the new blog or an old one can be used?

Do you know how I can make my gravatar smaller? In the Ari template, the pic is small and the writing floats around it so fits much more in. I tried the About.Me widget first but it didn't work..

I see that you solved this without CSS by removing all widgets from the "Primary Sidebar" area and adding an empty text widget.

That's because the left sidebar is fixed, not scrolling. Press command minus (Mac) or control minus (PC) to zoom out and you'll see more of your widgets. Note that, if you don't zoom out, how much of the sidebar content you see depends on your screen resolution (I have a high-resolution screen, so I'm seeing the top two widgets plus the title of the "Follow" widget).
Anyway, the bottom line is you can only add a few short items to the left sidebar, for instance the ones you've added to your right sidebar.

My blog is not displaying the Primary Sidebar widgets in the Primary Sidebar in a customised Ari theme blog. The primary sidebar has a Gravatar profile, milestone countdown, follow blog button, twitter feed and RSS. However, only the gravatar is displaying on the primary sidebar. Ive tried to work out why this is happening to no avail. Please help. The secondary sidebar widgets are working well.

I always use google:

Search Term site:en.forums.wordpress.com

That usually gets me the result I want when I put it in Google.

You're welcome.
The primary search function isn't very effective: after entering search terms and clicking the Search button, better try the link near the bottom that says "You may also try your search at Google".

Hi..

I am using the Blaskan theme and had no problems all the long.

All of a sudden the sidebar is located down at the end of the blog so not visibile on the first page.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I need this to be pegged at the top so that it can be seen as soon as the site is opened.

It's no longer the primary blog; I changed my original blog to secondary. What leads me to say that they're being counted on the other blog is that blog has been very inactive for awhile, I'm not expecting any hits. Here are the two sites in question.

I'm wondering if respondents to my second blog are being sent to my other blog. When I created my account (krhardman.wordpress.com) some time ago, I of course started a blog Margaret Holden Hardman. Recently I created a second blog. Based on the 'hit' (viewer) statistics, It appears that some people who are viewing my second blog are actually getting counted on my first blog. I changed my second blog to the Primary Blog, but I don't know if this will help. How do I make sure people are getting referred to the right place?

Hi,

I've recently tried to switch my "primary" navigation from Pages to Categories.

However, only 3 categories are showing up - is this a maximum or am I doing something wrong?
