Ads are keyword triggered so it you blog against this or that and don't have a No-Ads upgrade advertisers who are for this or that other organizations could have ads running on your blog. For example a blogger with a Christian blog who does not have a No-Ads upgrade may be surprised to see Scientology ads on it. Right now, the biggest domain registrar in teh world is down, and WP.com buys from a reseller of that registrar, so there's your problem. If you go to Dashboard->Store->Domains and disable the custom domain temporarily (don't delete or refund it, just disconnect it from your blog) that should bring your blog back up. All should be fixed soon and you can reconnect it.

I've never blogged before and honestly don't even read that many. I try to post pictures a lot as I find it more interesting than big blocks of text.

For what it's worth, leaving comments on other people's blogs, always responding to comments, posting on blogs similar to your own, subscribing to blogs yourself, and continuing to post on the forums will help. Maybe with all your current subscribers you can get them to help out? Have them post you on their blogrolls or link you in posts that they make. I'm sure they wouldn't ask much except that you do the same for them.

With a decent sized following already, you really have a lot more opportunity to use your existing fanbase to your advantage. Good luck. 100 subscribers is nothing to sneeze about.
