Why are two copies of the same image showing up in my post? When I go to edit it, only one image is there, and I can't figure out how to get rid of the extra one. Thanks.

Great news! One of our theme wranglers found that duplicate images appeared when using the "Post a Photo" button when using the New Post button, so we'll need to look into this a bit further.

In the meantime, if you love using the New Post button, my best suggestion is to use the "Insert Photo" button.

Right, I see that the most recent post that displays two of the same image is "St. Peter in Chains Sketch".

If you see that again for future posts, can you please let me know the steps you took so I can reproduce the issue?

If you scroll down my page, the first few images are all duplicated. I used the dropdown from the top of the page for the new post and it put it automatically into uncategorized so I was posting each thing then going to my page and clicking edit then changing the category which made it appear again.

I'm afraid I wasn't able to reproduce the duplicate pictures appearing when using the New Post button.

If you see the duplicate picture issue again, can you walk me through the steps once more?

Thanks so much for the exact steps you were taking. I'll try to reproduce this in regards to duplicate pictures appearing in the post with your current theme.

On a side note, you can change your Default Post Category in Settings -> Writing.

Sure! I had been posting in the "quick post" at the top of the page which was putting my post in "uncategorized" and when I went in and edited the post to put it in the "photography" category it was copying it instead of moving it.

So I started going to the dashboard>>new post where I could put it in whatever category I wanted right at the beginning.

If you use the add new link or "Quick Post" link on the main page of WordPress.com to create posts you are creating only "asides" without titles.

If you choose to go to the dashboard on your own blog, rather than the WordPress.com main page "Quick Post" link then you can use the "Add New" button to create "Standard" posts.

Standard – Your normal, average, everyday blog post. This is the default styling for your theme.

You may be able to recover an earlier Post Revision. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/ Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post.

If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.

Advice:
When you start a new post, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done with the post, set it back to publish and update it. The problem with posts disappearing when saved as a draft has been around for a while, but only seems to hit a small number of people randomly.

The other choice is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. I typed a long post this morning and saved as a local draft on my ipad. I was connected to the Internet at the time. Later the local draft was gone. There was no title.
Why would it ask me if I want to save a local draft and then delete it?

Quick Post, alas doesn't appear to have Autosave enabled, which sucks. It's actually dangerous.

By the way, the average wait time in an internet forum is something like 14 hours. Here it is less than 5 minutes.

I never ever use "quick post" because it creates Asides and Asides are post formats. They don't have Titles and can't have Categories assigned to them.

HEY IDIOTS a USER FORUM is no way to provide customer support. I have NEVER gotten a timely useful answer from a forum. If you don't want to actually help solve user problems, do us all a favor and be like Facebook where no matter what is wrong, there is no way to get an answer. Than at least there will be no false expectations. But asking people who already don't know how to do something how to do something in hopes they've already crossed that bridge is merely a formula for frustration.

You have a big problem in your quick post feature. If you click wrong button, unlike the main New Post feature, it does not save the content anywhere, does not ask you if you want to leave the page, it just goes away, as does all your work.

I WILL NEVER USE IT AGAIN. It also does not give you a way to access the formatting tools such as type size, and it does not let you access image library - and it was simply trying to back out of an attempt to do that that vanished my HOUR of effort using the quick post.

It sounds like you're on the quick post page - this is accessible from your global dashboard. The URL will look something like this: http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ - there is no "save draft" on this page. It's designed to get a post quickly published.
To see all your options for posting, you want to go to the page URL that looks like this: yourdomain.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php (you can get to this page by hovering over your image in the top grey nav bar, then hovering over the name of your blog, then click "new post" or "dashboard" and navigate to the new post page from there.

The Help area instructs me to click the "Save Draft" button when I've finished editing a post. I have looked and looked and LOOKED and cannot find this "Save Draft" button anywhere on the page on which I've edited the post. Would someone please help me with this? Many thanks!!!!!
