A reblog is treated like a regular post, however, the only content you can edit on that post is any text/comments that have been added when it was reblogged. The original content cannot be modified, nor can the link to the original content be removed.

What post format does a re-blog take? i.e., Does it default to a regular post, an aside, a link, etc?

It would make sense to me that re-blogged posts default as links when the post format is available, but I don't think this is the case. Perhaps this could be a feature improvement that wp.com can think about in the future?

Yes, I do clean out my spam frequently but I only get 4-5 spams a week (max), so I do check each one. None of them were reblog comments. =/

By chance did you check your notifications to see if it is there?

I don't have any of those boxes ticked and I still get a little speech bubble when someone comments, star when someone likes etc. and I thought I got a notification for reblogs this same way.

I am referring to the explanation given on the reblogging support section that reads:

"What happens when my posts get reblogged?

An excerpt of your post will be published on the reblogger’s site (with a link back to your original post), and you’ll receive a reblog notification in the post comments (you might need to approve it first):

Then there's a little screencap of a comment that says, "Reblogged this on Matt Thomas..."

Does that notification only work if they comment as well when they reblog? I understood that it should always show on my post and therefore, I would get a 'comment' notification when I logged in to WordPress.

At present, there is absolutely no record of my post having been re-blogged and I just happened upon it by chance.

I discovered yesterday that someone had re-blogged one of my posts but I did not get a notification of this, nor did a re-blog 'comment' come up on the post in question.

The only reason I know it was re-blogged is because the re-blogger also 'liked' the post and whenever someone new likes my posts, I click through to their blog to check it out. Mine was the first (and only...) post on said blog.

I don't know if this is the only time that one of my posts has been re-blogged or if there are other secret re-blogged posts out there that I just haven't been notified about!

I appreciate people liking my work enough to share it, so don't mind people re-blogging my posts, I would just like to know about it when they do.

1. embedding a tweet seems to not work on re-blogged posts. example - re-blog post in 'reader' view. add text. press re-blog. go back to edit post in 'posts' screen. open re-blog. add tweet url. press 'preview' or 'publish'. does not work in either 'visual' or 'html'

2. you have to add line break html to put spaces between desired paragraphs when re-blogging. is that supposed to be the case?

slightly related to the above: switching between 'html' and 'visual' usually always removes the 'html' shortcode and subsequent formatting when pressing preview or publish

2 and 3. It sounds like these two are linked. I'm a Lion and Safari user myself, so I doubt those are the problems. Can you tell me the title of a post, page, or draft you're having trouble with, and which word you're trying to link?

2. Some have been reporting this, but I've never been able to reproduce this (lack of) behavior in Safari 5.1.2 or in Firefox 8.0.1 on my Mac. I've even tried an older version of Opera and it works fine as well. Some have had luck by using the "link" button in the HTML editor rather than trying to use the one in the visual editor.

Go to settings > writing and select "Wordpress should automatically correct..." and then save changes. Just in case there is an error in some HTML on the code, that should correct it for you instead of tossing out the link.

3. Again, I've not been able to reproduce this behavior, so I have no workarounds to offer.

First, and the more unique for me.

I was able to reblog a couple of blogs. The reblog feature is intermittent. Sometimes I can reblog from a site and sometimes I cannot. OK, I gotta think some of the "sites" are preferences on their end.

But, this has happened on same sites. At first, I thought, "That is nice. You cannot reblog a post multiple times." Then I noticed that other posts were also unavailable. But. other bloggers were re-blogging.

I don't think it would be first come first serve, sometimes multiple bloggers re-blog ....

I can copy and paste.

Second, most ANNOYING..... The link button is intermittent as I write posts and pages.

Third, most AGGRAVATING ..... HTML coding goes intermittent as I try to work around 2 .....

I was a geek once upon a time. So, 2 & 3 are really out there.

OS Mac Lion .... I know - that has its own set of peculiarities. Surely, that is not affecting server side code? And I will test those peculiarities when I get a Windoze & Linux boxes back beside the Lion.

I am in the FSU .... I cannot see that being an issue other than slow ....

I used to be a blogger, so I would like to really get back in the swing of things with some of these great features.

Any help is appreciated. And of course, comments are always appreciated .... right?
