Thanks, timethief.

I must apologise....I am using the Top Posts & Pages widget. Usually widget headers are not hyperlinked. That is what I was referring to.

I have just now changed that widget to show the image grid, which looks fine and I'll leave it that way. Yet, the widget header is still linked to my jmnartsy blog.

I am wondering, as that widget appears directly underneath the hyperlinked text referring you to my jmnartsy blog, whether somehow the html/coding, whatever, has linked that text to my widget header?

The bolding -- oops, I guess something went wrong when I formatted!

Hi .. My 10 year old NZ ISP provider.. has finally explained to me.. exactly WHY they heve never been able to get my fully paid NZ Top Level Domain Name .. aimed into my wordpress blogsite .. even though they have been ripping me off at a hugely expensive monthly renewal rate .. ever since November 2002 when I registered my NZ Domain Name.

Apparently -- (as I was told today) .. they have never allowed any domain holder to have their Domain Name "aimed" into any C Record... sub-domain blogsite..

And .. they (Xtra.co.nz & Telecom.co.nz) don't even offer the option of a hosted LANDING PAGE -- which has always meant .. that my NZ Top Level Domain Name .. http://www.quix.co.nz .. has done & thus always will do ..
NOTHING.!!!!
It simply goes off the radar & dissappears when searched.. instead of "aiming" into WordPress... (where I currently run some 19 blogsites) ..
All I need -- is the exact IP "A" record... for: http://quixdotcodotnz.wordpress.com

As sadly -- my quoting the URL is NOT sufficient for them... They (Xtra.co.nz & Telecom.co.nz) "specifically" need the A record - as a fixed IP address

When I first prepared this widget and checked it to see how it looked, the title was underscored, like all links in this template. This was unusual to say the least. What made it more unusual, and unexpected, is that the link took you to my jmnartsy blog! Why?

Tonight, in jmnpixels I am doing some re-arranging of items, and checked Top Posts again in a new browser tab. This time the title is not underscored, but is still linked to jmnartsy. Why?

As well, another little glitch has appeared. The top item in the Top Posts image list's title link is not lined up with the avatar. Why?

I'd appreciate some advice hereon, or a fix of some kind, please. Thanks!

Domain mapping and site redirect are two different things for two different purposes.

Redirect is if you had a blog here and then move to, say, a self-hosted blog at godaddy or bluehost and wanted to redirect the traffic to your old blog, blog.wordpress.com, to your new blog and domain at godaddy or bluehost, blog.com.

Domain mapping is used to put your own custom domain name (URL) on a blog hosted here so that it appears with your chosen domain name.

You want domain mapping since your blog is hosted here.

i've recently upgraded and am now using wordpress.org I've done the whole export my wordpress.com posts and imported them to the wordpress.org site.. i've got 2 issues/questions.... when i created the wordpress.org site, i had to create a new login.. so, now, because i've imported posts from my old site, i have 2 users on my wordpress.org.. .i know its a minor thing, but i'm so anal about things like this... if i delete the user that was imported from wordpress.com, will all the posts go with it, or will they stay?

i don't really care about the domain that i bought a year ago through wordpress for my wordpress.com site, as its actually going to expire in like a month.. however, is there a way I can auto-redirect people who go to my old site to the new one? i have created a post saying "we've moved" but is there a way to do the re-direct.. I tried a few different codes, and they dont work...

I wanted to change the home page for my blog site so that it defaults to the "ABOUT" page. I went into the Settings link and changed the default UR, by adding the /about after the /blog. Big mistake. Now I cannot access my page and keep getting error messages when I try to log in to reset it.

Whenever I try to log in to my blog site, I get an error message and the url reads: http://www.flightsoffancythemovie.com/blog/about/wp-login.php

So, I then delete the "/about" and try to re-log in, but the site re-directs me to the http://www.flightsoffancythemovie.com/blog/about/wp-login.php, again.

I need to get my web page up and running again, and it should default to: http://www.flightsoffancythemovie.com/blog. In the meantime, we have figured out how to default to the About page from the host server, so all I want to do is reset my settings to the original settings.

Sorry, but I urgently need your help with this. THANK YOU!!!

Resolved, the answer was obvious in the end, hence my lack of hair. The lines in .htaccess are:
Redirect /2006 http:// archaeoastronomy.wordpress.com/2006
Redirect /2005 http:// archaeoastronomy.wordpress.com/2005

Thanks I found that one, but that's something I'm trying to avoid. If I understand it correctly it means specifying individual entries for 700+ pages. I'm looking for something that can simply swap one server in the URL for another.

I'll give this a go (http://daringfireball.net/2006/05/htaccess_redirection) as it seems a bit more clearly explained than the other pages I've found.

I don't know if this will help, but googled htaccess redirect and it came back with this:

http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess7.shtml

As it's your own server then JS and htaccess mods won't be a problem. :)
