Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there.

Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the autosave is not working.

I've tried to update broken links to my post ((ten)) times today for http://SinCityFinancier.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/recapping-termination-fees-and-other-non-adva.

Post now appears mostly gone.

Does this mean I'm going to have to rewrite from scratch?

WordPress.com has an autosave feature and you may be able to recover an earlier post revision. Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/

If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.

If you cannot locate the post for locating and restoring a post revision, and it's not in your Trash folder http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/ then you will not be able to recover it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

Hi sorry to bother you again. I was wondering if there was anyway to get back all of my blog I had typed. It said it had auto saved but my computer shut off on itself and everything is gone. I'm so upset at this I was finally able to get my thoughts in order now they're gone a whole 5 hours are gone. Can you please help? Thank you

Thank you so very much for your accurate answer. I went back to my PC and followed your instructions with ease. However, I could not find the same menus and options on my iPhone or iPad. Hugs to you for saving my article that had much more information in it then would have been comfortable for me to easily rewrite.

I believe you are referring to a blog post and not a blog. Have you tried editing the post and changing the "draft" to "public" and then clicking "update"? See here please edit post screen > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/#deleting-posts

A blog that I had posted and received multiple views and likes suddenly is now listed as a draft, which is an earlier version and missing later revisions. Can the posted version be restored?

I wrote a blog, published it and now it's gone. I'm getting a Error 404 message. I've followed several instructions to create a new home page, etc. Cleared my cache and cookies. Checked my trash. Log out, logged in. Help! I spent two hours writing and now it's gone! CurlyChaos and Other Funny Things, the post is called This Ain't No Coffee Break Y'all. Thanks. Cyndi

I am chronic saver too. I type a title for a draft post and save. I type a couple of sentences and save and so it goes with saving at the end of every paragraph until I'm ready to publish.

In addition to all of the above - one of the first things I do after starting a new Post is to Save Draft, and I tend to save often

Sometimes I will write in a Word Processing (Open Office) when I need a hard copy for editing. Then I will paste into the Text box option (2nd row down) that strips all the formatting & html out of the document so I then need to format the Post

I have also used offline blog editors

I just typed up an entire assignment for a class that requires us to use wordpress. I published it, all 787 words of it, and it was nowhere to be found. Is there any way to recover everything that I wrote, or do I have to start all over again??

I think I found the reason why. I inadvertently clicked the Move to trash link. Another suggestion would be to have a confirmation box before I fully move my post to trash. Another one of my two cents :D

Oh shoot... I found it on the trash bin. I do not know how I managed to delete it without my knowledge. Silly me. Again, I apologize if I was on edge. I'm on the job hunt you see and one of my job applications was pointing to this blog and I felt that that post would explain my career roadmap.

I'll be deleting the extra tags on the other posts. Thanks! :D
