Will you please provide active links to the posts you see these red "x's" in?

Are the images in your Media Library?

Or are the images on another site that you have linked to?

I am having trouble getting a picture on my blog. It shows up when I hit add media but when I go to preview it shows a small box with a red x inside

Do you mean where there should be an image? If so, that usually means that the original file has been moved or removed.

Some Posts do not show, all i see is the dreded red X .

Were the photos uploaded directly to the blog, or did you use the Post from URL option?

All of my pics seem to be missing from my previous posts? I only see red "x" where each image should be? Is there a problem with the system today? Or do I need to go back to old posts to make changes with the new media platform changes?

That sounds like a browser issue to me.

Do not log-in on the front page of WordPress.com. Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/

Instead I recommend that you ONLY log-in directly you your own blog and ONLY create posts and edit them here > Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

I have tried many ways to upload my photo. I have tried your suggestions. I have made the image smaller and as jpeg. When I look at my brand new blog there is only a red 'x' where the image should be. I have really, really tried. I'm getting close to bailing and trying blogger instead.

Hi Guys.. I am completely new to website building and have been reading up on everything so please when you respond, can you explain in detail.

Im having a problem with Thumbnails not displaying. I have uploaded the This Way theme using Word Press. And when I go onto background manager and upload my images as well as the Thumnails, the thumbnails always have a red cross and do not display. Also after I have saved the setting in background manager and look at my website the thumbnails also have red crosses. Please can some one help me !!!

This is a picture that loaded fine into my test blog - I had to get the image information by right clicking on the image - Picasso does not seem to have a Get Image Link option that I could fine - maybe they are discouraging hot linking -

Usually what you are doing wrong is the URL you are giving is for the page the image appears on - you need to give the URL of the image - some image hosts make it hard to find the proper URL

I cannot embed my images from picasa web into my blog. I have been using this procedure:
Add media
Upload/Insert
From Image (also used the Audio, Video or other file tab
entered the url of the file and the title

But a Big Red X keeps coming up and it will not let me insert.
What am I doing wrong. How can I overcome this?
I scanned a booklet by pages and put in one album on Picasa. Is this not how I should have done this. The photo album is found here:

You were left with the "block with red x" because the posts still include the code for the deleted images. You need to edit each post, click on each missing image, click the delete icon, click Update when you're done with all the images of the post.

I recently deleted some images from my blog; however I was left with the "block with red x" where the image had been still showing on that particular post - pray tell, how do I delete the box with the red x I am very frustrated with my blog site - I am currently being treated for cancer, my mind is not what it was, but since I have some time on my hands, I wanted to get my blog space in order, up and functioning - that just does not seem possible - maybe I am too stupid to use WordPress - but if you could possibly give me a clue on this task, it would be helpful

I was missing a step. Before saving changes, I had to type in my website where it says "website" (automatically linked when you make comments).

I'm still trying to figure out my image issue. The URL is correct in my media library. I'll look at the links you sent, and would appreciate further input.

I cannot see your blog as you have not linked your username to it or posted the URl to it. I suspect you did not enter the correct or complete image URL starting with http:// but cannot confirm that. See here please:

Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes. Then every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.
