I am trying to register a subdomain for our company's current blog; however, I receive an error message when I try to register it, stating:
"Other subdomains of this domain are registered to another user at WordPress.com so you can't use it for your site. Only that user can register other subdomains."

I asked our webmaster, and apparently he created another wordpress account connected to our website many years ago. I have the log-in information for that old account, but cannot find where to delete that account's association with our website so that I can register a subdomain for our current blog.

Help please?
Thank you!

Thanks for letting us know this issue is resolved. Here's how to link your active blog to your WordPress.com username. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

Happy blogging!

Give us the exact URL (no "www" or anything: the exact domain) and we can test it for you. It resolves at different rates in different places, but should be working for everywhere in a day or two.

I have this problem too, of this message appearing when I think it shouldn't.

My context is slightly different. I have just changed the name of my blog address, and when I looked to double check to see if my co-administrator had retained his permissions after the transfer, he had vanished from my user list. So I tried to (re)add him as an administrator, and got this message. This has a buggy smell to me.

Not a great time for the happiness team to be on holidays....!

Any ideas about workarounds??

I strongly discourage letting the domain expire.

Once a domain expires and passes an arbitrary period when it can only be renewed through your registrar, it enters a redemption period when it can only be renewed for a rather outrageous fee.

If it's not renewed by the end of the of the redemption period, it's awarded to any back-orders, turned over to a domain auction house if there are none, and eventually returned to the open market if there are no bidders.

The whole process takes about 90 days for your expired domain to return to the open market, provided that no one purchased it in the mean time.

Unfortunately, we can't accept incoming domain transfers here, but you can certainly transfer it to another registrar and map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Help!
I would like to cancel my domain registration with google apps and register my domain name "lawyernista.com" through WordPress. How can I do this other than contacting my registrar (which I no longer not have any record off)?

Mapping does not work because google apps provides no access to the domain server, so I cannot change the name.

I want to keep my blog with wordpress as is but change the domain name from lawyernista.wordpress.com to lawyernista.com.

Do I have to wait until the registration through google apps expires? Or is there another way?
